Overview
The
BI Director
is a hands-on leader responsible for building trusted, scalable, and business-aligned analytics within healthcare environments. This role blends BI strategy, technical execution, and team leadership. The ideal candidate has deep experience working with healthcare data, partnering with clinical and operational leaders, and building governed reporting environments that support confident decision-making. This leader will own certified datasets, reporting standards, and analytical frameworks that transform complex clinical, operational, and financial data into actionable insights. Key Responsibilities Own enterprise BI strategy, reporting standards, and analytics delivery Lead development of curated datasets, data models, and certified reporting sources Work hands-on with healthcare data (EHR, operations, revenue cycle, finance) Write and optimize advanced SQL for data extraction, modeling, and validation Drive data quality, reconciliation, and root-cause analysis to improve trust in reporting Partner with clinical, operations, finance, and IT leaders to align metrics and priorities Support healthcare system integrations into centralized analytics environments Deliver executive dashboards, operational scorecards, and ad hoc analysis Establish governance, documentation, and metric ownership practices Lead and mentor a small analytics team while remaining technically engaged Required Experience 7–12 years in BI, analytics, or data engineering 2+ years leading teams or enterprise analytics initiatives Healthcare BI experience with clinical and operational data Proven hands-on experience working directly with raw data and source systems Background operating in evolving or post-migration environments Technical Skills Advanced SQL Healthcare data models and warehouses Data modeling and analytics architecture BI tools (e.g., Looker, Power BI, or similar) Strong Excel and data validation practices Preferred Experience in medical groups or multi-site healthcare organizations EHR integrations or system migrations Building certified datasets, semantic layers, or governance frameworks
