Piper Companies is seeking a Director of Business Development to lead a team within the clinical research and biotech industry. The Director of Business Development role is ideal for an experienced people‑leader focused on coaching, team performance, and strategic oversight rather than individual sales responsibilities. The Regional Director of Business Development role is a remote opportunity (travel required) and is a direct placement with the company.
Responsibilities
Manage, develop, and support business development team members to achieve their goals.
Oversee hiring, workforce planning, and resource allocation for the BD team.
Foster a collaborative, accountable, and high‑performance team culture.
Provide ongoing coaching across the full sales cycle and ensure process consistency.
Monitor team metrics and remove barriers to ensure collective success.
Collaborate with internal stakeholders to support regional growth strategies and BD initiatives.
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in clinical or life sciences‑related field.
Experience managing business development or commercial teams within clinical research or biotech.
Strong understanding of global clinical trial and biotech market trends.
Knowledge of study budgets, proposals, and contracts to guide team discussions.
Ability to lead through coaching, structure, and performance management.
Proven success driving engagement and supporting department‑level strategies.
Compensation
$240,000 - $275,000 + Bonus/Commission
