The Associate Director (Cloud Architect) is a core technical leadership role focused on architecting, developing, and automating the most critical components of the AWS Cloud Platform and application delivery pipeline. This role requires at least 10 years of hands-on experience in application development, deep cloud expertise, and a strong product development mindset—treating the cloud platform and developer toolchain as internal products with measurable user experience and continuous iteration. You will define standards for IaC, CI/CD, and SecDevOps using GitHub as the primary source of truth. A key deliverable is driving innovation by incorporating AI/ML tools into the Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC) to enhance security, quality, and velocity across all application teams. Success is measured by design, implementation, and scalability of production-ready cloud solutions. Key Responsibilities

I. Deep Technical Design & Hands-On Engineering AWS Foundational Architecture: technical owner and primary builder of the AWS Landing Zone architecture (Control Tower, AWS Organizations) with high availability, network resilience (Transit Gateway), and cost efficiency. Expert IaC Development: author and maintain enterprise-grade Infrastructure-as-Code modules using CloudFormation with GitHub, promoting a strict GitOps model. Scalable Application Architecture: design and validate scalable, resilient, cost-efficient cloud-native architectures; enforce serverless-first, auto-scaling, multi-AZ deployments; plan for disaster recovery in IaaS Cloud. Modern Application Development: leverage 10+ years of development experience to build robust, secure cloud-native solutions (CloudFront, Lambda, API Gateway, Elastic Beanstalk, ECS, DynamoDB, S3) with emphasis on performance and operational excellence. SecDevOps Automation: embed security automation across CI/CD, implement policy-as-code (e.g., OPA) and automated compliance checks; knowledge of AWS Config, IAM roles/policies, and Organization Policies. II. Product Mindset & Innovation Product Development Approach: treat the cloud platform and developer toolchain as a product; improve developer experience (DX) and deliver measurable time-to-market improvements. AI-Powered SDLC Integration: lead strategy and integration of emerging technologies (e.g., Generative AI for code generation, intelligent testing, automated security patch recommendations) to modernize internal SDLC toolchain. CI/CD Mastery: design and optimize the enterprise CI/CD platform (GitHub Actions or equivalent) to enable continuous delivery workflows. FinOps & Resource Optimization: automate mechanisms and references to optimize AWS spend and utilization across business units. III. Technical Governance & Mentorship Technical Standard Bearer: establish and enforce technical standards, design patterns, and quality gates for cloud adoption, ensuring regulatory compliance. Architecture Review: lead technical reviews for major cloud projects to ensure scalable, reliable solutions with defined security baselines. Qualifications & Experience

Required Experience Education : Minimum BS in technical field; Computer Science or Engineering preferred. Experience : 10+ years in IT/Software Development, with 7+ years in large-scale enterprise AWS engineering and DevOps delivery. Core Skills : Expert-level proficiency in Python, NodeJS (or other major language) and CloudFormation (or other IaC tools) for production systems. Version Control : Expert-level knowledge of GitHub for code management, branching, and using Actions and Advanced Security. Certifications : Active AWS Certified Solutions Architect - Professional and/or AWS Certified DevOps Engineer - Professional preferred. Product Focus : Ability to define and deliver platform capabilities with a product mindset, focusing on developer needs and measurable outcomes (e.g., reduced deployment time, increased security). Technical Depth : Expertise in IAM policies, network architectures, and troubleshooting high-volume distributed cloud systems.
