Position Overview Report directly to the Executive Vice President of Engineering & Construction, the

Executive Director of Transmission Engineering

will lead all aspects of electrical transmission and collection system design across an increasingly complex and growing energy infrastructure project. This role will play a central leadership function—guiding the engineering and execution of a 700+ mile interregional high-voltage transmission system currently under construction, while also supporting the development of new generation and grid assets. The ideal candidate brings deep technical experience in transmission engineering, including HVDC, and excels at managing large, multidisciplinary teams and external contractors.

Key Responsibilities

Lead engineering efforts for high-voltage transmission and collection systems (HVDC)

Provide strategic guidance to internal teams and external contractors throughout the project lifecycle

Support technical execution of generation interconnections and substation design activities

Manage scope, schedule, budget, and risk across multiple concurrent projects

Stakeholder & Agency Engagement

Collaborate with utilities, permitting agencies, and regional transmission operators

Support interconnection negotiations and compliance with regional planning processes

Represent the company in regulatory and public forums, including preparing reports and presentations

Organizational Impact

Mentor engineering staff and contribute to team development

Inform long-term planning around technology selection, system optimization, and cost modeling

Qualifications

Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering (or related discipline)

15+ years of experience in high-voltage transmission engineering

Demonstrated experience with large-scale transmission projects; HVDC knowledge strongly preferred

Licensed Professional Engineer (P.E.) preferred

Strong leadership, communication, and stakeholder management capabilities

Experience managing external EPCs, contractors, and multidisciplinary project teams

Willingness to travel to regional project sites across CO, WY, UT, and NV
