Director of Operational Analytics
at our Sandy, Utah headquarters. This full‑time, exempt position reports to the Chief Operations Officer. We are looking for someone who embodies WCF's core values: doing the right thing, being great at your job, and helping others succeed.
This position is responsible for transforming operations into a data-driven organization that leverages data as a strategic asset to drive growth, efficiency, and customer value. The person in this role will enable data-informed decision‑making across all business units and enhance collaboration between product, pricing, underwriting, IT, operations, and data engineering teams.
Responsibilities
Define, develop, and lead analytics for underwriting, marketing, and sales & distribution, ensuring data is utilized to create measurable business value.
Facilitate and partner with IT to manage relevant data and support the adoption of emerging analytics and AI technologies.
Lead initiatives to improve data literacy and embed a data-driven mindset across underwriting operations.
Oversee consistent and effective use of data for business decisions across underwriting functions.
Create and lead a center of excellence for data analytics, implementing best practices for data‑driven decision-making.
Partner with business unit leaders to support data-driven decision-making across the COO organization.
Support analytical questioning and ensure consistent, collaborative approaches to data projects, avoiding duplication of efforts.
Measure success and adoption of standardized data use, reporting accuracy, and increased utilization of advanced analytics and artificial intelligence.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree with emphasis in analytics, IT, or a business-related field; master's degree preferred.
At least eight years of work experience in insurance, data management, analytics, and AI-related technologies, or 12 years of related experience without a degree.
Strong understanding and experience in data governance, data architecture, and compliance.
Experience leading data transformation or data literacy initiatives.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Strong collaboration skills and experience working cross‑functionally with IT, operations, and business teams.
Critical thinking and analytical skills with the ability to gather and interpret data to drive decisions.
Exceptional leadership, customer service, and organizational skills.
Proficient in mentoring and training others.
Strategic mindset with the ability to translate data into actionable business insights.
An internal candidate should have six months in their current position, acceptable job performance, and must notify their current supervisor that they have applied for the position.
