AVP Underwriting Director - Contract Surety. Location: Texas (Dallas or Houston area preferred) or virtual within the State of TX. Job ID: 126053. Zurich is seeking a Contract Surety Underwriter (Executive Underwriter OR AVP, Underwriting Director) to analyze and underwrite a book of new and renewal business within delegated authority levels, providing high-level service to customers and partnering with brokers. This role uses the Zurich Way of Underwriting Framework and requires a strong sales execution mindset to write profitable business. Responsibilities
Proactively seek renewal and new account opportunities. Complete detailed opportunity assessments with key distributors to identify growth opportunities. Qualify accounts to meet the organization’s appetite, balanced with sound business opportunities. Make agent/broker/customer on-site calls with a planned and well-prepared purpose. Negotiate terms and conditions and close deals. Cross-sell other lines of business to increase product density with the account. Participate in Sales Team meetings related to assigned brokers/territory. Proactively engage in the target account process, managing a qualified list of opportunities 90 to 120 days prior to the effective date. Update required systems with details of broker/client visits and account status within the specified time frame. Serve as key contact for assigned target accounts. Develop strong broker and client networks related to industries underwritten by the Business Unit. Contribute to development of underwriting manuals, programs and guidelines. Lead complex technical or long-term (over 6 months) projects to implement new or changed systems, programs or products. Investigate, recommend and implement leading-edge technical solutions when they meet customer needs. Required Qualifications
Executive Underwriter
Required Qualifications High School Diploma or Equivalent and 5+ years of experience in underwriting or market-facing finance/accounting/banking; OR High School Diploma or Equivalent and 10+ years of experience in claims or underwriting support; OR Zurich Certified Insurance Apprentice including an Associate Degree and 3+ years of experience in underwriting/market-facing finance/accounting/banking; OR Zurich Certified Insurance Apprentice including an Associate Degree and 8+ years of experience in claims or underwriting support; AND Knowledge of Microsoft Office Experience working on quotes for new and renewal business under time constraints Experience working in a team environment OR AVP Underwriting Director
Required Qualifications High School Diploma or Equivalent and 7+ years of experience in underwriting/market-facing/finance/accounting/banking; OR High School Diploma or Equivalent and 14+ years of experience in claims or underwriting support; OR Zurich Certified Insurance Apprentice including an Associate Degree and 5+ years in underwriting/market-facing/finance/accounting/banking; OR Zurich Certified Insurance Apprentice including an Associate Degree and 12+ years of experience in claims or underwriting support Preferred Qualifications

At Zurich, compensation for roles is influenced by factors including office location, role, skill set, and experience. The salary ranges provided are nationwide markets and may be adjusted for geographic differentials. The combined salary range for this position is $98,500.00 - $215,000.00. The proposed salary range for the Executive Underwriter is $98,500.00 - $165,000.00, with short-term incentive bonus eligibility of 15%. For the AVP Underwriting Director, the range is $130,000.00 - $215,000.00, with short-term incentive bonus eligibility of 20%. Other
