Position Details Position Number: 60070505. Grade: NC14. Salary Range: $50,633.00 - $88,607.00.

Description of Work

Manage, direct, oversee, and coordinate all functions related to the offender disciplinary process within NCDAC Institutions, representing the department in all offenders’ disciplinary matters.

Review documents relating to offender discipline—lesson plans, audit materials, policies, and procedures—and make appropriate recommendations forćihkurther.

Supervise an Office Assistant and two Chief Assistant Disciplinary Hearing Officers.

Oversee the Disciplinary Services Section, employing approximately 15 Disciplinary Hearing Officers across the state.

Review offender disciplinary appeals, ensuring compliance with constitutional, federal court, and state statutes and rulings.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities / Management Preferences

Effective supervisory and managerial skills with comprehensive knowledge of prison policies and procedures, particularly current disciplinary procedures, classification, and diagnostic processes.

Extensive knowledge of correctional programs and unique aspects of various facilities.

Demonstrated experience making decisions based on the needs and best interests of all concerned.

Effective oral and written communication skills.

Experience training staff on offender discipline matters.

Proficiency with current automated computer files and web applications.

Preferred Qualifications

Provided training to staff using an approved lesson plan; participated in auditing of criminal justice programs.

Made significant decisions following review of offender disciplinary dispositions.

Minimum Education and Experienceolver Bachelor’s degree in human services or criminal justice from a properly accredited institution AND four years of experience in correctional programs management or related work; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
