The Director of Pharmacy Services is a
clinical pharmacist leadership role
responsible for the strategic direction, operational management, regulatory compliance, and clinical excellence of all pharmacy-related programs at The HealthCare Connection (THCC). This position provides both hands-on clinical pharmacy services and organizational leadership, supporting high-quality, patient-centered care across the health center. The Director oversees entity-owned pharmacy operations, contract pharmacy relationships, the 340B Drug Pricing Program, and clinical pharmacy services, while ensuring compliance with HRSA, state, and federal regulations. The role also serves as Chair of the Pharmacy Oversight Committee, providing governance, accountability, and strategic alignment for all pharmacy services. This position is a
clinical/administrative role , with an expected allocation of approximately
60% clinical practice and 40% administrative/leadership responsibilities . Key Responsibilities
Clinical Pharmacy Practice (60%) Direct patient care as a clinical pharmacist within scope of practice Collaborative care with medical, behavioral health, and care teams Medication therapy management, chronic disease management, and patient education Clinical quality improvement and outcomes-focused interventions Support value-based care initiatives, including medication adherence, quality metrics, and cost-of-care reduction Serve as a clinical resource and subject matter expert to interdisciplinary care teams Strategic & Operational Leadership Develop and execute the strategic plan for pharmacy services in alignment with THCC’s mission and organizational goals Oversee and optimize entity-owned pharmacy operations, including staffing, workflows, patient safety, financial performance, and service delivery Lead and manage contract pharmacy relationships, ensuring contractual compliance, operational performance, and alignment with 340B requirements Direct the 340B Drug Pricing Program, including eligibility, registration, data integrity, compliance monitoring, and audit preparedness Provide leadership and oversight of external vendor relationships (e.g., Nuvem), including performance evaluation and transition planning for potential internalization of services Develop, implement, and maintain policies, procedures, and SOPs related to pharmacy services, 340B operations, and compliance Governance & Leadership Engagement Serve as Chair of the Pharmacy Oversight Committee, ensuring appropriate governance, documentation, reporting, and follow-through Actively participate as a member of the Joint Leadership Team (JLT) Prepare and present pharmacy-related reports, metrics, and recommendations to senior leadership and committees Provide leadership, mentorship, and performance management for pharmacy staff Regulatory Compliance, Risk Management & Audit Readiness Ensure compliance with all applicable HRSA, 340B, DEA, Ohio State Board of Pharmacy, CMS, and federal/state pharmacy regulations Lead and support internal and external audits, including HRSA/340B, DEA, and state board audits Maintain robust internal controls, documentation, and monitoring systems to ensure program integrity and transparency Partner with compliance and finance teams to develop, implement, and monitor corrective action plans Serve as the organizational subject matter expert on pharmacy compliance, controlled substances, and medication safety Qualifications
Required Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) degree from an accredited school of pharmacy Active, unrestricted Pharmacist License in the state of Ohio Active Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) license 3-5 years of clinical pharmacy practice experience 3-5 years of retail or ambulatory pharmacy experience Preferred 340B Apexus Certified Expert (ACE) or equivalent credential Demonstrated experience in quality improvement initiatives Strong working knowledge of 340B program operations and compliance Experience using electronic health records, clinical decision support tools, and health information technology Experience working within a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) or other Community Health Center (CHC) Benefits
