The Resident Director (two vacancies) lives on campus to support a cohesive living, learning, and caring community. This role actively engages with students, maintains a visible presence, and coordinates with campus resources to respond to student needs and emergencies. The posting is intended to fill two vacancies. This posting is intended to fill two (2) vacancies Core Duties

Lead and manage program(s) or function(s) under minimal supervision. Administer, implement, and interpret university and department policies and procedures and advise on issues regarding financial aid, housing, registrar and academic services, international student services, student engagement, academic advising, and career counseling and placement. Identify, clarify, and resolve highly visible or complex issues with substantial significance and impact across multiple areas. Address problems of diverse complexity with data analysis, sound judgment, and independent judgment; network with senior internal and external contacts. Administer student support in Residential Education by engaging with students, evaluating opportunities, and advising on program eligibility to foster intellectual and personal growth; review decisions recommended by other staff. Collaborate to develop integrated learning experiences in student residences; help resolve program issues, interpret policies, and mediate sensitive issues; evaluate and recommend program improvements as needed. Resolve crisis situations, counsel students and families on sensitive issues, and facilitate case management to provide integrated care and support. Provide guidance and develop programs that support student development; analyze effectiveness and make recommendations. Develop and implement outreach plans and maintain external relationships; represent Residential Education, Student Affairs, and the university at meetings and events. Advise students on a range of issues and escalate to leadership as needed; may serve as a hearing officer for cases and participate in the adjudication process as a student support person. Serve as a subject matter expert on student care and university policies; contribute to business practices and organizational change to improve processes. Summarize data from multiple sources using quantitative and qualitative assessments to drive improvements; prepare and manage reports and presentations. Participate as a key member of project teams; may train or supervise other staff, volunteers, and temporary workers. Other duties may be assigned. Minimum Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will bring: Education And Experience

Bachelor’s degree and three years of relevant experience, or a combination of education and relevant experience. Knowledge, Skills And Abilities

Strong communication skills to clearly and effectively communicate information to internal and external audiences. Advanced analysis and problem solving skills. Commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion and ongoing professional development. Experience working with a diverse student population and understanding issues around class, identity, and intersectionality. Ability to interact with diverse faculty, staff, alumni, and families. Capacity for addressing campus safety, emergency response, mental health, case management, and student conduct. Advanced computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite; strong customer service skills. Knowledge of relevant computer systems/technology; understanding of financial transactions; ability to ensure compliance with legal, financial, and university policies and external regulations. Ability to maintain a balanced schedule with structured autonomy (walk-in hours, committee work, case management) while maintaining visible presence with students. Finalists must successfully pass a pre-employment background check. Physical Requirements

Frequently sit, perform desk-based computer tasks. Occasionally stand, walk, twist, use fine manipulation, grasp, use a telephone, write by hand, sort and file, lift up to 10 pounds. Reasonable accommodation will be provided as required by law. Working Conditions

University on-campus housing is provided; residing on campus is a condition of employment. This is an on-site role requiring presence in the assigned work location Monday through Friday. Work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed in an on-call rotation. COVID-19 vaccination is required unless a medical or religious accommodation is granted. The expected pay range for this position is $94,998 to $100,024 per annum. Stanford provides pay ranges as a good faith estimate; final offer depends on various factors. Work Standards
