Finance Director
to serve as the Village’s Chief Financial Officer. This is a rare opportunity to lead a high-performing finance operation in a vibrant, growing community in the southwest suburbs of Chicago. About Tinley Park
Tinley Park is a premier destination community of nearly 57,000 residents, located along the Interstate 80 corridor. Known for its lively downtown, nationally recognized entertainment venues, strong business base, and excellent quality of life, Tinley Park combines fiscal strength with forward-thinking leadership. The Village maintains an
AA+ credit rating
and ranks in the top five percent of cities nationwide. The Position
Reporting to the Village Manager, the Finance Director oversees all financial operations for the Village, including budgeting, accounting, treasury functions, tax levy preparation, payroll, purchasing, risk management, debt administration, ERP systems, and grant compliance. The Finance Department has earned the
GFOA Certificate of Achievement for Financial Reporting for 25 consecutive years
and multiple Distinguished Budget Presentation Awards. The Director leads a professional team of 10 full-time and 3 part-time staff and manages a
$177.4 million total budget , including a $72.5 million General Fund and a $40 million capital program. Key priorities include continued refinement of a new ERP system and filling the vacant Assistant Finance Director position. Ideal Candidate
The successful candidate will be a seasoned public finance professional with extensive municipal experience and a strong understanding of: GAAP and governmental accounting Budget development and long-term financial planning Tax levies, TIFs, debt issuance, and treasury management ERP systems and financial reporting Collaborative leadership across departments and with elected officials The ideal Finance Director is a trusted advisor, effective communicator, and hands-on leader who values integrity, transparency, and service excellence. Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Public Administration, Business Administration, or related field Minimum of
seven (7) years
of progressively responsible public finance experience, including
three (3) years in a supervisory role CPA, Master’s Degree preferred but not required Municipal auditing background welcomed Benefits
