Our client is a high-growth, venture-backed digital pathology company seeking to appoint a National Sales Director to lead and scale its commercial operations nationally. This is a pivotal leadership hire at a formative stage of the company’s growth and will play a central role in shaping sales strategy, building the sales organisation, and delivering sustained revenue growth. The successful candidate will bring a blend of strategic leadership and hands-on execution, with the ability to operate effectively in a fast-moving startup environment. Sales Strategy & Revenue Growth Define and execute the national sales strategy in line with the company’s growth and funding objectives. Own revenue delivery, pipeline development, forecasting accuracy, and sales performance management. Lead complex, consultative sales cycles involving clinical, scientific, IT, procurement, and executive stakeholders. Establish pricing strategies, target segments, and go-to-market models across clinical, research, and pharmaceutical customers. Sales Team Build & Leadership Build, lead, and develop a high-performing national sales team, starting with direct sales responsibility and scaling over time. Design and implement sales processes, KPIs, and incentive structures appropriate for an early-stage business. Coach and mentor sales team members in enterprise, solution-led selling environments. Act as a senior commercial representative with strategic accounts, partners, and industry stakeholders. Develop strong relationships with pathology laboratories, hospital systems, CROs, biopharma organisations, and research institutions. Provide structured market and customer feedback to inform product development and commercial prioritisation. Cross-Functional & Executive Collaboration Work closely with Product, Marketing, Clinical, and Customer Success teams to ensure aligned execution and strong customer outcomes. Support demand generation activities, conferences, and key industry events. Contribute to board-level and investor reporting on commercial performance, pipeline health, and growth outlook. Experience Significant experience in senior sales leadership roles within digital pathology, pathology software, medical imaging, diagnostics, or adjacent healthtech / life sciences sectors. Proven success selling complex, enterprise-level SaaS or technology platforms into healthcare, life sciences, or pharmaceutical markets. Prior experience building or scaling sales functions in startup or scale-up environments is highly desirable. Skills & Capabilities Strong commercial and strategic acumen with a track record of delivering revenue growth. Comfortable operating both strategically and hands-on in early-stage organisations. High credibility with C-suite, clinical leaders, and senior scientific stakeholders. Excellent negotiation, forecasting, and deal execution skills.
