Opening Director of Spa
for 1 Hotel Austin to provide support and expertise to the team. In this role, you will take the helm of overseeing every facet of our hotel's daily operations, from pre-opening to post-opening phases, with a commitment to optimizing revenue and exceeding our guests' expectations. In the position of Director of Spa, you will play an indispensable role in bolstering the objectives of our Team while embodying the very essence of our brand. It\'s crucial to underscore our unwavering belief in fostering positive, nurturing work environments. The Director of Spa is responsible for the overall leadership, strategy, and performance of the Spa & Wellness operation, delivering an exceptional, holistic wellness journey aligned with 1 Hotels’ luxury positioning, sustainability ethos, and brand values. This role oversees spa, fitness, and wellness experiences, ensuring personalized service, operational excellence, strong financial performance, and a culture of care, innovation, and continuous development. As a brand ambassador, the Director of Spa curates meaningful, nature-inspired wellness experiences that create lasting guest connections while driving commercial success.
General Duties
Develop and execute a comprehensive spa and wellness strategy aligned with the 1 Hotels brand philosophy, sustainability commitments, and guest experience standards Lead business planning, annual budgeting, forecasting, and capital planning for the Spa & Wellness division Oversee all spa and wellness operations, including treatments, fitness, relaxation areas, retail, guest flow, and overall facility presentation Ensure consistent service excellence through SOP development, audits, preventive maintenance coordination, and operational reviews Design and deliver distinctive wellness experiences inspired by local culture, holistic well-being, and sustainable luxury Oversee personalized guest journeys, including pre-arrival planning, in-treatment customization, VIP coordination, and service recovery Recruit, train, coach, and develop a high-performing spa and wellness team, fostering engagement, accountability, and brand alignment Conduct performance reviews, development planning, and ongoing wellness education and cross-training initiatives Manage spa financial performance, including P&L accountability, revenue optimization, expense control, and inventory management Implement retail strategies, dynamic pricing, promotions, and upselling initiatives to maximize revenue and profitability Collaborate with Sales, Marketing, and Revenue teams to drive spa demand through packages, memberships, events, and partnerships Lead the annual wellness marketing calendar, including seasonal offerings, retreats, programming, and brand activations Ensure all spa branding, menus, collateral, and guest touchpoints reflect brand standards and storytelling Represent Spa & Wellness in site inspections, media engagements, VIP briefings, and internal leadership forums Champion sustainability initiatives by promoting eco-conscious products, reducing waste, conserving energy and water, and supporting responsible luxury practices Ensure full compliance with health, safety, hygiene, and regulatory requirements specific to spa and fitness environments Coordinate emergency preparedness, safety training, and crisis response procedures within the department Partner with hotel leadership to support pre-opening activities, renovations, and special projects as required Follow all company and safety and security policies and procedures; report any maintenance problems, safety hazards, accidents, or injuries; complete safety training and certifications; properly store flammable materials Ensure compliance with hotel policies, procedures, and standards with self and colleagues Ensure uniform and personal appearance are clean and professional Maintain confidentiality of proprietary information Embed the 1 Hotels Vision, Mission and Compass; deliver on Our Promise, provide Good-Natured Service and uphold our Brand Pillars Perform other duties as assigned in support of hotel operations and exceptional guest service About you
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Reasonable accommodation may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. Minimum of three (3) years of experience in spa operations or spa management required. At least three (3) years of leadership experience in a luxury resort spa or similar environment preferred. Minimum of five (5) years of experience in a luxury hospitality or wellness-focused setting preferred. Must be at least 21 years of age. Working knowledge of spa booking and scheduling systems. Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook). Strong financial acumen with experience reviewing reports, forecasts, and performance metrics. Excellent guest service, interpersonal, and communication skills. Strong organizational, time management, and multitasking abilities. Polished professional appearance and demeanor. Ability to resolve issues effectively while balancing guest satisfaction and business needs. Willingness and ability to work flexible schedules, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
