Location: Bronx, NY (Hybrid work schedule available) Type: Full-time, Exempt Position Summary

CitySquash seeks a strategic, detail-oriented Director of Finance to oversee the organization’s financial management, administrative systems, and operational infrastructure. Reporting to the Executive Director, this individual will be a key member of the senior leadership team and play a critical role in ensuring the organization’s financial health, operational effectiveness, and compliance. This is an ideal position for a mission-driven professional who enjoys both high-level strategy and hands-on management in a small, collaborative environment. Key Responsibilities

Oversee all accounting and financial reporting functions, including monthly closes, reconciliations, and annual audits. Manage budgeting and forecasting processes in coordination with the Executive Director and program leads. Prepare financial statements and reports for the Board of Directors. Ensure compliance with nonprofit accounting standards (GAAP) and all applicable regulations. Manage vendor relationships, payroll processing, and expense reimbursements. Process incoming donations (checks, online gifts, stock transfers, and other contributions) and maintain accurate donor records in coordination with the Development team. Generate and distribute timely donor acknowledgment and tax receipt letters in accordance with IRS requirements. Operations & Administration

Oversee organizational compliance, insurance, and regulatory risk management. Serve as primary liaison with external accountants, auditors, and HR/payroll providers. Support HR functions, including onboarding and benefits administration. Strategic Leadership

Partner with the Executive Director to strengthen long-term financial planning and sustainability. Work closely with the Board’s Finance Committee to ensure transparency and oversight. Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree required; CPA, MBA, or other relevant advanced degree preferred. Minimum of 7–10 years of progressive experience in finance and operations, ideally within a nonprofit setting. Strong understanding of nonprofit accounting, audit processes, and compliance requirements. Experience with donation processing, CRM systems, and donor acknowledgment procedures. Proficiency with QuickBooks, Excel, and Salesforce. Excellent organizational, analytical, and communication skills. Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a mission-driven, fast-paced environment. Commitment to CitySquash’s mission and values. Compensation and Benefits
