Zurich Alternative Asset Management (ZAAM) within Zurich North America is recruiting for an Associate Director of Private Equity based in New York City. The role reports to the Managing Director and Head of Private Equity and collaborates with ZAAM colleagues, Zurich colleagues in other business units, and key stakeholders. Under the direction of the Head of Private Equity, highlights of the key accountabilities are as follows: Responsibilities
Transactional
Lead or co-lead deal origination, research, and analysis of direct co-investment and secondary GP-led or continuation vehicle opportunities and/or managers that conform to investment mandates across multiple strategies, including buyouts, growth equity, and venture capital. Leverage personal and professional networks to conduct extensive diligence and referencing. Develop relationships with intermediaries, portfolio companies, managers, and other limited partners to improve ZAAM PE market intelligence and differentiated deal flow. Support ZAAM Legal in negotiation of business and legal considerations and exert influence to achieve positive outcomes for Zurich. Prepare and present institutional-quality memoranda for ZAAM Investment Committee, key stakeholders, and Head of Private Equity. Perform regular investment and risk monitoring on portfolio activities under assigned coverage and leverage technology and/or tools to gather PE data. Serve as Zurich’s designated representative for Limited Partner Advisory Committees. Research
Employ a thesis-driven approach to identify areas for potential investment consideration for ZAAM PE. Aggregate and synthesize PE data and trends to contribute toward ZAAM investment strategy. Build and gather proprietary PE data to enhance ZAAM PE underwriting and monitoring. Use available technology solutions (e.g., data visualization tools, AI tools) to elevate ZAAM PE’s market intelligence and portfolio analyses. Serve as ZAAM PE internal lead on assigned portfolio segments and market. One Zurich
Elevate ZAAM PE colleagues by sharing experience, knowledge, and expertise. Join and/or lead cross-departmental projects that support a broader Zurich initiative. Represent ZAAM PE in structured meetings with Zurich senior management, key stakeholders, ZAAM colleagues, or external parties. Lead or support assigned PE projects, including helping with investment mandate setups, authoring documentation for review by senior Zurich executives, and outbound calling efforts. Basic Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree and 5+ years of experience in the Investments area AND 3+ years of experience in institutional asset management, investment accounting, financial planning, insurance companies, actuarial field Preferred Qualifications
Possess ambition and drive towards continuous improvement and excellence. Bachelor’s degree in finance or accounting. Master’s degree in finance or an MBA. Progress toward the CFA designation. Experience in one of the following areas: asset management company or investment department of an insurance company; financial analyst, financial engineer, structurer, trader, or risk manager for a financial institution; experience in an insurance company with an understanding of liabilities; consultant in a consulting firm in investments, insurance, risk management, or financial analysis. Your pay at Zurich is based on your role, location, skills, and experience. We follow local laws to ensure fair compensation. You may also be eligible for bonuses and merit increases. The proposed salary range for this position is $165,625.00 - $271,250.00, with short-term incentive bonus eligibility set at 20%.
