What You’ll Be Doing The Associate/Director of Credit Sales within Fixed Income Sales (under the guidance of the Head of Fixed Income Sales) significantly impacts the firm’s bottom line (trading revenue, deal flow, capital management, client impact, external rankings, risk responsibility, business budget, external profile, etc.) and contributes to firm‑wide priorities and business line initiatives. This critical position provides liquidity to traders to exit risk and source risk sought on behalf of customers.

How You’ll Succeed

Responsible for creating new sales and managing the assigned book of business.

Deliver on sales volume and revenue targets.

Work with business partners in trading and DCM.

Maintain a thorough understanding of client needs to build relationships and supply additional products when possible.

Have in‑depth knowledge of the organization, products, and services.

Fulfill business needs through inbound/outbound calling activities.

Analyze customer needs and suggest alternative products and services.

Act as a product specialist, maintaining expert knowledge to meet business needs and establish rapport.

Hold accountability for risk and compliance processes.

Who You Are

Comprehensive knowledge of financial markets, specifically IG Credit functions and products.

Detailed working knowledge of the industry and market to assess impact of market conditions.

Excellent interpersonal and relationship building skills to develop, manage, and leverage relationships with clients, internal and external partners.

Significant presentation/interactive skills to articulate complex information on issues requiring extensive interpretation and opinion.

Creativity skills to resolve complex problems and identify innovative alternatives or opportunities.

Working knowledge of all Canadian and U.S. legislation and regulatory requirements to advise clients or market transactions effectively.

Developed understanding of CIBC World Markets businesses, including knowledge of FIC products and services, FIC‑related competitive, legislative, and economic environment.

Comprehensive understanding of profitability, risk, and cost control elements.

Knowledge of business/finance typically acquired through a university business degree or equivalent combination of education and industry experience, with relevant postgraduate education as specified by US‑FIC.

Unquestioned professionalism, ethics, and reputation, with proven ability to exercise strong independent judgment in business decisions and representing CIBC World Markets.

Highly developed people management and team building skills.

Strategic thinking capability with ability to identify and exploit trends and opportunities.
