Sports and Family Program Director
Full Time, Hourly | $44,000-$46,000 per year

Qualifications
Must be 18 years of age or older; coursework, training, or experience toward Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) or Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) strongly preferred
Certification as a Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist (CTRS) or background in recreational therapy, early intervention, or special education preferred
Ability to work with and be sensitive to others while always portraying a positive style of instruction
Desire to mentor program participants of a variety of ages
Ability to perform activities which require sustained concentration and attention
Ability to positively engage with disabilities within our programs
Foundational understanding of the disabilities community and best practices for inclusive support
Responsibilities
Encourage program participants providing excellent service to participants and members
Reinforce the YMCA values of caring, honesty, respect and responsibility through example and recognition of participant displays of character
Follow approved positive support techniques to develop and refine athlete’s skills
Follow detailed schedule provided by the leader/supervisor and have the knowledge and understanding of the athletic skills required to implement the lesson plan
Work collaboratively with supervisors and families/caregivers to promote positive behavior and participant success
Implement creative, appropriate, and individualized strategies to effectively support behavior and engagement
Conduct YMCA Program instruction in accordance with YMCA program standards ensuring adherence to YMCA progressive or competitive standards and quality
Provide a safe environment that allows members and participants to learn the YMCA sports curriculum
Arrive at least 15 minutes before scheduled class session to be prepared with the equipment set up and ready to begin at the scheduled start time
Be reliable and inform the supervisor of any conflicts at least 24 hours before the work day of any issues or items required
Communicate all YMCA rules and ensure that you are accessible and identifiable
Complete timely reports of incidents to the director/supervisor, complaints or compliments of the program
Attend staff meetings and trainings as required
