Overview The Director of Finance leads the Finance team, ensuring the long‑term financial health and growth of the hotel. The ideal candidate brings strong hotel experience and a proven track record in hospitality finance.

Responsibilities

Direct and administer all hotel financial operations – asset protection, financial reporting, systems management, budgeting, forecasting, and department management.

Ensure compliance with GAAP and oversee accounts receivable, credit, accounts payable, payroll, cash handling, and purchasing.

Monitor and approve all sales, purchases, salaries, and expenses, and serve as financial advisor to management and ownership.

Assist department heads in interpreting financial data to maximize hotel profitability.

Weekly + Monthly Tasks

Prepare weekly cash‑flow forecast and determine check run.

Oversee monthly financial reporting package (statement, balance sheet, cash flow).

Reconcile monthly billings, receivables, and balance sheet.

Record monthly accruals and prepare state and city sales tax.

Lead monthly P&L reviews, forecast meetings, and expense allocation across F&B outlets.

Review inventory, prepare monthly financial package, and conduct revenue analysis.

Projects & Ad Hoc

Prepare annual plan, projections, and budgets.

Implement financial control and update payroll allocations.

Conduct ROI analysis, contract review, and external audits (worker’s compensation, sales tax, insurance).

Year‑end audit and tax compliance.

People Success

Recruit, interview, and train Finance team members.

Coach, support, and inspire the Finance team, fostering open communication and a culture of guest and employee excellence.

Maintain collaborative internal and external relationships and celebrate team successes.

Implement corrective action plans and enforce policies and procedures with consistent disciplinary action when needed.

Skills

Proficiency in Microsoft Office and hotel‑specific platforms (Infor‑HMS, ADP, Birchstreet, M3 Accounting Core).

Excellent written and verbal communication, active listening, and clarifying concerns.

Strong leadership, organizational abilities, and sound administrative skills.

Ability to prioritize departmental functions and meet deadlines.

Working knowledge of food and beverage and hotel cost controls.

Qualifications

8+ years in hospitality finance management, including 3 years in a leadership role; luxury hotel experience preferred.

College degree in Finance or related field required.

Working knowledge of local financial practices and taxation; country experience required.

Maintain confidentiality of information.

Flexible hours and willingness to comply with legal requirements.
