Save Job

Why Charlie Health? Millions of people across the country are navigating mental health conditions, substance use disorders, and eating disorders, but too often, they’re met with barriers to care. From limited local options and long wait times to treatment that lacks personalization, behavioral healthcare can leave people feeling unseen and unsupported.

Charlie Health exists to change that. Our mission is to connect the world to life‑saving behavioral health treatment. We deliver personalized, virtual care rooted in connection—between clients and clinicians, care teams, loved ones, and the communities that support them. By focusing on people with complex needs, we’re expanding access to meaningful care and driving better outcomes from the comfort of home.

As a rapidly growing organization, we’re reaching more communities every day and building a team that’s redefining what behavioral health treatment can look like. If you’re ready to use your skills to drive lasting change and help more people access the care they deserve, we’d love to meet you.

About the Role As Director of Engineering, you will help transform behavioral health care by building the platform behind our care model. Your work will directly shape how care is delivered, measured, and improved through technology, so clients and clinicians get consistently high‑quality experiences.

The foundation is in place: strong teams and a core care delivery platform. The next phase is scale and impact. You will help shape technical strategy, raise the bar on reliability and data quality, and ensure we keep shipping quickly as the platform and product surface area grow. This is a hands‑on leadership role for someone who can drive execution, develop managers, and consistently deliver outcomes in a fast‑moving environment.

Lead multiple product engineering teams and partner closely with infrastructure and data functions

Translate company and care strategy into clear engineering priorities, roadmaps, and measurable outcomes

Drive reliable delivery: planning, execution, dependency management, and predictable shipping across teams

Raise the bar on system reliability, performance, and correctness for the services that power care delivery and decision making

Establish healthy engineering practices across teams (quality, incident response, on‑call, observability, and continuous improvement)

Grow and develop engineering managers and senior ICs; build a high‑performing, accountable culture

Partner with Product, Design, and Clinical leaders to scope, deliver, and iterate on customer‑facing and clinician‑facing capabilities

Identify technical risks early and drive pragmatic tradeoffs that balance speed, quality, and long‑term platform health

Requirements

8+ years of engineering experience, including 4+ years leading multiple teams (directly or through managers)

Proven track record owning business‑critical systems in production with strong reliability and quality outcomes

Demonstrated ability to scale delivery through teams: clear priorities, strong execution, and effective cross‑functional partnership

Strong technical foundation; able to review architecture, dive into code when needed, and guide senior engineers on design and tradeoffs

Experience improving engineering operations (planning, on‑call, incident management, metrics, and delivery predictability)

Strong product judgment and comfort making tradeoffs that affect quality, speed, and outcomes

Clear, direct communication style with high standards for execution and accountability
