What You Will Do

Work closely with government boards and management teams to understand their organization and assist in identifying and managing financial and operational risks within their business processes and systems.

Develop in-depth knowledge of governmental organizations by having direct client interaction while working on multiple aspects of an engagement.

Serve as the primary client liaison for large client relationships – manages master service agreements over large client relationships, aligning project teams with client needs and ensuring client satisfaction with our work.

Think independently and strategically about your clients’ business, systems and risks, providing recommendations for business and process improvements based on knowledge of the client’s operations, processes, and objectives.

Provide strategic advice to clients by assisting in the implementation of new processes and controls that address key risks.

Assess, manage, and optimize information technology risk across a wide range of areas, including cybersecurity, IT strategy and governance, IT regulatory and compliance requirements, and business continuity and disaster recovery.

Review clients' processes and controls against industry frameworks, identify gaps in design and execution, and communicate issues and recommendations to clients.

Produce comprehensive executive summaries and final reports for delivery to the client, documenting and reviewing engagement work papers in accordance with internal audit methodologies.

Act as a valued business advisor, build relationships and communicate effectively with the client to provide superior client service.

Manage, develop, and mentor staff on projects and assess performance for engagement and year-end reviews. Actively participate in recruiting talent to the firm.

Perform project management duties — oversees work plan execution, provides status reports, generates invoices, manages the project budget, oversees deliverables, and coordinates day-to-day with the client team.

Lead professional and effective presentations to internal and external audiences.

Continue to develop knowledge and experience with a variety of technology environments, platforms, applications, and tools/utilities.

Attend professional development, networking events and training seminars; adhere to high professional standards and client confidentiality.

Manage engagement staffing, billings/collections, and ensure client profitability targets are met.

Leverage entrepreneurial skills to network and build relationships to acquire new clients, projects, and revenue.

Invest in professional development through firm-wide learning programs.

Support the growth and development of team members through Baker Tilly Care and Teach philosophy.

Engage in social activities and team events that support work-life balance.

Qualifications

A bachelor’s degree within business, finance, accounting, or public administration; MBA/MPA desirable but not required.

Ten (10) plus years of progressive related consulting experience, including at least seven (7) years as a project manager overseeing large and complex client relationships.

Certification is highly relevant; one or more of CIA, CFE, CRMA, CGAP, CPA, CISA, CISSP required.

Proven capacity to act as a dynamic leader, with the ability to navigate and lead change management initiatives.

Knowledge of public sector operations; specific experience in public sector setting (state/local government, public utility, transit, K-12 schools).

Demonstrated management, analytical, organizational, interpersonal, project management, and communication skills; strong Microsoft Word and Excel skills.

Broad understanding of risk and internal audit concepts, including IPPF/Yellowbook standards, internal controls, and business processes.

Ability to provide exceptional client service, commitment to continuous learning, ethical conduct, and sense of urgency and quality.

Strong understanding of the professional services industry and ability to develop delivery on a business plan for a team of consultants.

Ability to train and mentor team members.

The compensation range for this role is $201,810 to $382,600. Actual compensation is influenced by a variety of factors including but not limited to skills, experience, qualifications, and geographic location.
