The Executive Director provides strategic leadership and operational oversight for the Telos U and Geneva programs. This role is accountable for overall program performance, including financial management, resident care, regulatory compliance, accreditation standards, business development, and revenue optimization. The Executive Director fosters a culture of trust, collaboration, and excellence while ensuring a dignified, professional, and client-centered treatment environment for both clients and staff.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Categorized by focus areas below. For each area, the Executive Director provides leadership, ensures regulatory and programmatic compliance, and aligns operations with Telos policies and Master Treatment Plans (MTP).
Leadership & Culture
Cultivate a culture of trust, accountability, and collaboration among employees, leadership, and board members.
Promote strong working relationships and alignment across all Telos companies.
Provide leadership and administrative oversight for all departments and program operations.
Facilitate regular leadership and management meetings, including Leadership, Post-Mortem, Retention, and Treatment Delivery meetings.
Maintain a visible leadership presence through regular on-site engagement and “management by walking around.”
Attend weekly Board meetings.
Operational Oversight
Directly supervise Program Managers/Directors, Nursing Supervisor, Clinical Director, Food Service Supervisor, and other management staff.
Ensure all clinical, residential, and support services are delivered in accordance with Telos policies, clinical models, and Master Treatment Plans (MTP).
Oversee admissions operations to ensure identification of qualified candidates and confirmation of financial responsibility.
Ensure emergency preparedness, crisis response readiness, and compliance with emergency procedures.
Financial Management
Maintain full fiscal accountability for program performance, including census management, revenue generation, expense control, and adherence to approved budgets.
Collaborate with the Controller and Chief Operating Officer to develop annual budgets for leadership and board approval.
Regularly review financial statements and monitor monthly and quarterly budget performance, ensuring financial targets are met or exceeded.
Identify and implement strategies to improve revenue, control costs, and enhance operational efficiency.
Compliance, Quality & Risk Management
Ensure full compliance with all licensing, contractual, regulatory, and accreditation standards.
Maintain current policies and procedures that meet or exceed regulatory requirements.
Develop and oversee a system-wide quality improvement plan focused on service effectiveness, client outcomes, and operational performance.
Ensure timely completion and submission of required documentation, including fire drills, health and safety audits, emergency drills, and data reporting.
Adhere strictly to HIPAA and confidentiality requirements in all communications and documentation.
Staff Development & Human Resources
Partner with the Director of Human Resources to ensure consistent application of employment policies, evaluations, grievance processes, and disciplinary actions.
Ensure all staff receive required training and demonstrate competency in their assigned roles.
Support leadership development and succession planning within management teams.
Business Development & Stakeholder Relations
Build and maintain strong partnerships with referral sources, funding entities, and external stakeholders.
Collaborate with the outreach team to execute strategic growth and referral development plans.
Monitor satisfaction of referral sources and ensure coordinated communication between outreach, admissions, and clinical teams.
Participate in industry presentations, travel, and active outreach.
Promote Telos services and support the expansion and sustainability of existing and new program offerings.
Additional Responsibilities
Demonstrate strong organizational skills, sound judgment, and the ability to prioritize and complete responsibilities efficiently.
Perform other related duties as assigned.
Requirements
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum of 8 years of experience in a residential treatment setting
Minimum of 5 years of leadership experience
Excellent crisis management and stress management
Excellent ability to influence systemic change
Working knowledge of the Telos philosophy and mission statement
Excellent leadership and interpersonal relationship skills
Team-centered personality/approach
