Houston Classical Charter School ("Houston Classical") was chartered by the Texas Education Agency (TEA) to open in Houston in August 2020, beginning with kindergarten and first grade. The school has an accomplished and committed Board, which includes a founding Board and a Head of School. We are seeking experienced, dedicated, and motivated individuals who are excited about the challenge of being part of a growing school. Houston Classical is founded on the idea that scholars can learn at a high level, notwithstanding their zip code or background.

The Role
The Director of Campus Operations is a key member of the campus leadership team responsible for ensuring that all non-instructional aspects of the school function smoothly, efficiently, and in compliance with applicable laws and standards. This leader manages the operations team and drives the development and execution of systems that promote academic excellence through operational strength. In addition, the Director of Campus Operations oversees student attendance and enrollment systems, ensuring accurate reporting, effective follow-up, and that both Average Daily Attendance (ADA) and enrollment goals are consistently met. The Director also ensures that all operational practices are fiscally responsible, maximizing resources to support the school’s mission and long-term sustainability.
Essential Job Duties & Responsibilities
Operational Leadership
Oversee all non-instructional school functions to ensure operations are efficient, compliant, and aligned with organizational goals.
Manage, coach, and hold accountable the operations team, promoting professional growth and high performance.
Design, implement, and refine operational systems and processes that provide a strong foundation for academic success.
Attendance & Enrollment
Lead and monitor systems and processes to ensure Average Daily Attendance (ADA) goals are met or exceeded.
Oversee student enrollment processes to guarantee accuracy of records and ensure campus meet or surpass enrollment targets by set deadlines.
Partner with school leaders and staff to design, implement, and evaluate effective student recruitment and retention strategies.
Finance & Compliance
Ensure all school operations are fiscally sound, transparent, and aligned to established budgetary goals, with regular monitoring and corrective action as needed.
Oversee procurement, vendor management, and contract compliance to guarantee cost efficiency, equity, and adherence to organizational policies.
Monitor and enforce compliance with all applicable local, state, and federal regulations, maintaining complete and accurate documentation.
Manage state and federal Child Nutrition Program reporting with precision to both ensure regulatory compliance and optimize available funding for student nutrition.
Facilities & Safety
Provide leadership in managing the maintenance, safety, and security of the school campus to ensure a safe and welcoming environment for students, staff, and families.
Ensure full compliance with all health, safety, and emergency preparedness regulations, implementing proactive systems and monitoring to minimize risks
Oversee custodial, food service, and transportation operations (as applicable), ensuring quality, efficiency, and alignment with organizational standards.
Family & Community Engagement
Ensure families experience excellent customer service in all operational matters, fostering trust and satisfaction.
Develop and support communication systems that keep families consistently informed, engaged, and connected to the school community.
Leadership & Collaboration
Serve as a key member of the school’s leadership team, actively contributing to strategic decision-making and long-term planning. Collaborate with academic leaders to ensure operational systems and resources are fully aligned with instructional priorities.
Drive high performance within the operations team through clear goal setting, consistent progress monitoring, coaching, and accountability structures.
Ensure all operational goals are achieved in alignment with the school’s mission and priorities.
Provide ongoing training and lead professional development to build team capacity and strengthen operational excellence.
Consistently model and reinforce the school’s mission and core values in all aspects of leadership and daily work.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree required
Proven ability to design and manage efficient, scalable systems
Strong knowledge of compliance areas relevant to charter schools (e.g., facilities, child nutrition, safety, financial reporting, student data)
Exceptional organizational and project management skills; able to prioritize and delegate effectively
Skilled in team leadership, coaching, and cross-departmental collaboration
Clear, professional communicator with excellent written and verbal skills
