Base Pay Range $12,844.00/yr - $170,185.00/yr
Charlotte County is seeking an accomplished and dedicated Utilities Director to provide strategic leadership and operational oversight for the County’s utilities operations. The ideal candidate will demonstrate exceptional leadership, team‑building, and motivational capabilities, fostering a collaborative and high‑performing organizational culture. This individual will be skilled in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with elected officials, department directors, commissioners, external agencies, business partners, and the public, ensuring transparent communication, sound decision‑making, and the delivery of reliable, high‑quality utility services to the community.
Essential Job Functions
The selected candidate will serve as a primary spokesperson before the Board of County Commissioners and other key stakeholders.
The candidate will be responsible for the strategic oversight, evaluation, and management of a diverse portfolio of water and wastewater collection and distribution system projects.
Candidate will exercise sound judgment in assessing current and future county water and wastewater infrastructure needs to ensure regulatory compliance, operational efficiency, and long‑term sustainability.
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Public Administration, Business Administration, or a closely related field.
Ten (10) years of progressively responsible leadership experience in the management of public utility systems, including substantial supervisory and operational oversight.
Demonstrated experience leading teams, managing complex systems, and supporting organizational objectives.
Preferred Qualifications
Active Water and/or Wastewater Certification.
State of Florida Professional Engineer (P.E.) License.
