Position: We are seeking
SVP- Enterprise Data Strategy & Architecture,
responsible for establishing and owning NMS’s enterprise data strategy and architecture across Finance, Treasury, HR, Procurement, AP, Operations, FP&A, and Reporting. This role oversees the NMS enterprise data model, integration patterns, and governance framework that ensures a single, trusted flow of financial and operational data across D365, Coupa, Workday, Concur, OneStream, Kyriba, Power BI, and related systems.
This leader directly manages Data Governance and provides architectural oversight to contractor resources supporting BI/Reporting and Middleware/Integrations. Vendor Data Management (VDM) operates separately but maintains a dotted-line relationship into Data Governance, and therefore indirectly into this role.
The role blends deep technical architecture experience with strong financial acumen to drive data strategy, modernization, integrity, automation, and enterprise-wide data excellence.
Key Responsibilities Enterprise Data Strategy & Architecture
Define and own the enterprise data strategy for NMS Finance and adjacent functions.
Design and govern the enterprise data model across all core systems (Workday, D365, OneStream, Power BI, Kyriba, Coupa, Concur, etc.).
Establish the canonical data model and unify disconnected structures into a cohesive enterprise architecture.
Lead redesign of the chart of accounts, entity hierarchy, cost centers, and financial dimensions.
Own metadata standards, lineage models, mapping logic, and end-to-end data design.
Oversee architectural standards for integrations, master data, data quality, and reporting.
Provide directional leadership to contracted Middleware/Integrations engineers, ensuring they follow enterprise design and control expectations.
Ensure flows, such as Workday → D365 → OneStream → Power BI, operate reliably and consistently with clear ownership.
Define mapping rules, transformation logic, validation controls, and integration patterns.
Data Governance Leadership
Directly lead the Head of Data Governance, who manages data quality, controls, and master data standards across the enterprise.
Ensure that governance, policies, naming conventions (data ontology), and master data structures are aligned to the enterprise architecture vision.
Oversee governance councils, data quality programs, and issue resolution processes.
Maintain accountability for the dotted-line relationship with data stewards, such as Vendor Data Management, ensuring alignment to master data standards and governance processes.
BI, Reporting & Semantic Layer Oversight
Provide architectural leadership to contracted BI/Power BI resources, ensuring semantic models, KPIs, and reporting structures follow enterprise architecture principles.
Ensure the BI ecosystem (models, datasets, KPIs, and lineage) aligns to OneStream and D365 structures.
Standardize reporting logic and eliminate fragmentation from spreadsheets or shadow analytics.
Quality, Controls & Issue Remediation
Own enterprise-wide data quality rules, validation standards, monitoring frameworks, and issue management escalation.
Drive resolution of root causes for recurring data breaks and systemic quality issues.
Lead remediation of legacy design flaws, structural gaps, and technical debt in core systems.
Cross-Functional Leadership & Enterprise Alignment
Partner deeply with ERP, HRIS, FP&A, Accounting, AP, Procurement, Treasury and Operations leaders to ensure system structures support accurate, reliable downstream reporting and analytics.
Lead enterprise architecture forums and design sessions to ensure alignment across all data-producing and data-consuming teams.
Serve as the executive point of escalation for architecture, data flow, and data integrity issues.
Modernization, Automation & AI Enablement
Drive simplification of data flows, reduction of manual reconciliations, and consolidation of redundant structures.
Adopt modern automation and AI tools to improve data integrity, reduce manual work, and accelerate insight generation.
Create scalable standards to support future-state self-service analytics.
Directly manage the Head of Data Governance and ensure governance maturity across the organization.
Provide architectural oversight—not day-to-day management—to contractor BI and Middleware/Integrations resources.
Build and mentor a streamlined internal team augmented by external specialists as needed.
Qualifications
20+ years of experience leading data architecture, enterprise architecture, or data engineering in complex, multi-system financial environments.
Demonstrated success shaping and executing enterprise data strategy across Finance, ERP, HRIS, and operational systems.
Deep expertise with ERP, HR, master data, integrations, metadata, and reporting ecosystems (ideally including D365, Workday, Coupa, Concur, OneStream, Kryiba and Power BI).
Strong financial literacy and understanding of Accounting, FP&A, and operational data flows.
Experience establishing data governance frameworks and overseeing governance leaders.
Proven ability to repair broken architectures and eliminate technical debt.
Strong SQL, modeling, and data design expertise; able to engage at both strategic and hands‑on levels.
Familiarity with AI/automation and how to apply emerging tools pragmatically.
Exceptional communication and influence skills, with demonstrated success aligning executives and functional leaders.
