Overview This position is located at Joint Base Lewis-McChord Aquatics Program.

Incentives and Bonuses

Incentives will be paid.

Cash bonus authorized.

Selectees from this vacancy are eligible to receive a cash bonus of $500 after working 50 hours and another cash bonus of $500 after working 100 hours.

Duties

Serves as a lifeguard for indoor and outdoor pools and works under the direction of the Installation Aquatics Program Manager.

Responsible for lifeguarding guests in attendance at the assigned aquatics facility. Provides maximum pool area surveillance and responds to emergencies; rescues pool patrons and administers first aid as required.

Assists in maintaining pool, and area clean and free from any hazards.

Requirements

Direct Deposit and Social Security Card is required.

Meet qualification/eligibility/background requirements for this position to include a physical and child care checks due to regular and recurring contact with children.

A one-year probationary period may be required.

Satisfactorily complete an employment verification (E-Verify) check.

Lifeguarding and First Aid (American Red Cross or nationally recognized equivalent i.e. Star Guard, YMCA, or ELLIS);

American Red Cross "Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation for the Professional; CPR for the Professional Rescuer/AED or equivalent (American Heart Association CPR/AED);

First Aid. For Water Parks upgrade the certification to: 'Waterpark Lifeguarding and First Aid; CPR/PR/AED' (American Red Cross)

Oxygen Administration "O2 bottles" the O2 Administration certification (American Red Cross "Oxygen Administration or installation offered training (i.e. Fire Dept.) must be obtained within two weeks of reporting for duty.

Continuous exposure to sun and prolonged periods of high temperature and humidity. In case of exposure to infectious disease, incumbent is required to obtain the Hepatitis B vaccination series within a 24-hour period.

Lifeguards must have good vision (based on an acceptable standard of 20/40 vision or better with glasses/contacts or uncorrected. Incumbent is required to follow environmental safeguards and wear person protective equipment.

Must be able to work a schedule that may include working some nights, weekends, and possible holidays.
