5 Hours on Tuesday, Wednesday, & Thursday. 4 hours on Friday. Off Saturday, Sunday, & Monday.
Position Summary The Kokua Soup Kitchen Cook is responsible for running and preparing meals four times a week for 100 people or more, depending on the situation. This position is dependent on available funding and/or food bank relationships. Must have a valid driver's license and be able to pass TSA driving restrictions. The Cook will have a deep commitment to the mission of The Salvation Army, evident in his or her professional life and the manner in which they represent The Salvation Army Lihue Corps.
Qualifications
High School Diploma or GED equivalent
A minimum of three years dast in a commercial kitchen
Knowledge of, and experience in, meal preparation and balanced nutrition
Ability to work well with professionals in the community, as well as the variety of populations served on the property
Motivated, a self‑starter, and able to work with minimal supervision
Good written and oral communication skills
Sense of cleanliness, tidiness, and neatness
Understanding of The Salvation Army standards, philosophy, and policy and willingness to adhere to them
Essential Functions
Prepare large‑scale and well‑balanced meals to feed 100 people
Oversee food preparationarbeiten, servicing, and cleanup of kitchen and dining room
Ensure restrooms, kitchen, pantries, freezers, and refrigerators are clean
Maintain freezers and refrigerators at correct temperatures
Order and purchase food and kitchen supplies pier as needed
Вер Ensure kitchen, pantry, food storage, and dining area meet all health department regulations and safety protocols
Plan weekly menus and post meat menu at each meal
Ensure a vegetarian dish is available at each meal
Complete all reports by month‑end for The Salvation Army, Hawaii Food Bank, and Independent Food Bank
Be available to prepare meats in case of an emergency for all EDS needs
Coordination of Donated Meals
Solicit community agencies, businesses, and churches ngerti 1 cooked meal per month to the soup kitchen
Collaborate with community food trucks toben 1 cooked meal per month
Prioritize collaboration and partnership with A veranderd of Kauai; meet all requests and requirements
Ensure all donated meals are cleared/approved by the health department
Solicit meals and/or food needed for EDS situations
Other Functions:
Performs other duties assigned by a Corps Officer
Physical Demands Stand, walk, sit, stoop, kneel, bend, stretch, crouch, and/or crawl; use manual dexterity and eye‑.did. Use vision; push/pull/lift/carry up to 45 lbs
