Senior Estimator – Underground Power Transmission & Distribution
A leading utility contractor is seeking a Senior Estimator to lead preconstruction efforts on complex underground power transmission and distribution projects across Southern California.
Base Pay Range $125,000.00/yr - $160,000.00/yr

Key Responsibilities
Lead the development of full-scope, competitive cost estimates for underground power T&D projects
Perform and oversee detailed takeoffs, pricing strategies, and bid packaging
Analyze labor productivity, equipment utilization, subcontractor scope, and material costs
Review utility standards, drawings, specifications, and contract documents
Drive bid strategy, risk assessment, and value engineering discussions
Coordinate with project management, field leadership, and vendors during preconstruction
Support awarded projects with budget validation, change order pricing, and cost forecasting
Mentor junior estimators and contribute to estimating process improvements
Required Qualifications
12–15+ years of construction industry experience, with 8–10+ years in at‑risk construction estimating
Strong experience estimating underground power transmission and distribution projects
Direct estimating exposure to SDG&E, PG&E, SCE, or similar investor‑owned utilities
Candidates whose background is primarily client‑side budget estimating will not be considered
Proficiency with estimating software and advanced Excel‑based cost modeling
Ability to lead estimates independently and present pricing to leadership
Preferred Experience
Estimating experience for substations, power plants, or complex utility facilities
Leadership experience within an estimating or preconstruction team
Local market knowledge of Southern California labor, production rates, and utility standards
Relocation
Relocation assistance may be considered for highly qualified senior‑level candidates
