The Senior Estimator will work with the Director of Preconstruction and Preconstruction team to prepare estimates and proposals. They will determine, along with the Director of Preconstruction, the subcontractors and vendors to solicit for each project being priced. They will provide quantity surveys, assist with calling vendors, prepare bid leveling sheets, and play a key role in communicating and coordinating project information from the architect and/or the owner. They will develop a preliminary project schedule and project logistics plan, which is to be reviewed with the project team, including the Superintendent, Project Manager, and Director of Preconstruction, or Director of Operations. Experience

Five (5) to ten (10) years of experience in the construction industry in a role of Estimator. Although not required, a Bachelor’s Degree in Construction Management, or similar discipline of study is beneficial. Demonstrate proficiency and understanding of drawing review, quantity survey skills, site logistic planning, and project scheduling. Must possess a working knowledge of computer programs needed in the performance and execution of their job. Program types include but are not limited to estimating takeoff software (On Screen Takeoff, Bluebeam), P6, Sage Estimating, Microsoft Excel, and Word. Must possess strong communication skills and the ability to effectively maintain relationships with trade contractors, vendors, clients, and design professionals. Resposibilities

Prepare project budgets, estimates, and proposals, including quantity surveys, assuring that all estimates, including general conditions, are accurate, complete, and reflect the actual requirements of the project. This includes assuring there are an adequate number of qualified and financially sound trade contractor and supplier proposals received and evaluated. Identify and manage potential project and budget estimate risks, ensuring the risks are mitigated. Review risk factors with the Director of Preconstruction, including but not limited to trade contractor pricing spreads 10% and greater, contracts, bonds, insurances, and other potential project risks. Lead a project-specific estimating team (Junior Estimators, Estimators, and Interns). Ensure that all bid schedules are maintained. Coordinate the assembling of the bid pricing, including all quotes and construction schedule. Collaborate with program managers, clients, and design teams to ensure estimates/proposals align with project scope, schedule, and budget. Resolves cost discrepancies by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends. Be able to budget a project at the schematic, design development, and construction development stages. Can independently budget/price a project of $1 million to $10 million, and possibly greater. Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications, and establishing personal networks. Maintain a good relationship with Owners, Architects/Engineers, trade contractors, suppliers, municipal authorities, and others involved with the project and business. Participate in organizations that serve to promote the interest of the Company. Represents the Company, at all times, in such a manner that will enhance the reputation of the firm. Promote the growth and development of Client, design professionals, trade contractors, and supplier relationships. Maintain positive working relationship with Client(s), design professionals, program managers, and others to facilitate successful project preconstruction execution. Communicate any new project opportunities to Sr. Leadership and be involved in the pursuit of such new opportunities. Understand the importance of interacting with Owners, Architect/Engineers, trade contractors, suppliers, and other participants of our business with positive results. Possess an attitude of stewardship that makes them highly approachable by all members of the project team, Architects/Engineers, design professionals, and Sr. Leadership of the Company.
