Role This position requires candidates to be field-based and to reside within the specified geography, which includes Florida, Ohio, Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, Missouri, Alabama, and Louisiana. Additionally, candidates must live within a commutable distance of a major airport within this region.

The Regional Director – Special Eyecare leads the sales performance and professional development of a team of District Managers and Sales Representatives in an assigned geography, focused in the therapeutic arena of Ophthalmology and Optometry. The Regional Director drives sales performance, executes business objectives, manages the budget, and develops a team of District Managers and Sales Representatives through live sales meetings, conference calls, field co-travels, and key customer engagements. The Regional Director ensures that all promotional sales and marketing initiatives, along with all other District Manager and Account Specialist responsibilities, are executed in a legally compliant manner.

Responsibilities

Sales Leadership & Strategy: Responsible for achieving/exceeding the Eyecare national sales expectation and other goals established by management and in alignment with U.S. Marketing Plans, within expense, compliance, and legal guidelines.

Continually analyze sales and business execution to uncover business needs, then develop/execute a plan that provides tactical direction, evaluates progress, measures results, and monitors the plan’s impact on district, regional, and national sales performance.

Demonstrate leadership to attract, develop, and retain talent; inspire and coach team members and mentor others across the organization.

Collaborate with external customers and internal partners to ensure AbbVie resources address customer needs and improve sales performance.

Meet national productivity and administrative requirements to maintain/improve operational effectiveness and support the sales and marketing strategy.

Manage a budget, including allocations for programs and training, travel, and expense approvals for direct reports.

Provide direct feedback and facilitate communications with corporate partners regarding the execution and reception of marketing and other company initiatives.

Team Leadership, Talent Development & Compliance

Provide coaching and development to district managers to ensure attainment of forecasted sales goals.

Provide direction and leadership for the district managers and the region; oversee recruiting, hiring, training, development and performance management.

Identify talent needs and implement development plans to maintain a diverse talent pool for succession planning.

Develop top talent and support development and exposure opportunities.

Offer coaching, mentoring and guidance across the business, including cross-functional and multi-franchise settings.

Maintain 100% adherence to Compliance and Corporate policies (e.g., Code of Conduct, Healthcare Law Compliance, Expenses, Fleet, etc.).

Collaboration, Communication & Stakeholder Engagement

Collaborate with marketing teams and leadership to design and communicate sales execution priorities, implement critical programs, and deliver key metrics.

Maintain consistent communication with the national sales team to recognize performance, highlight trends, and ensure common execution priorities.

Engage with key accounts/physicians to position solutions as a trusted industry resource.

Represent AbbVie in national organizations as needed to support Eye Care initiatives.

Manage customer relationships and opportunities, supporting district managers and developing opportunities.

Ensure customer needs are met through cross-functional collaboration and execution.

Contribute to business objectives as a positive leader within the Eye Care Sales Leadership Team.

Foster advocacy and engagement across peer groups and the broader organization.

Bring diverse thinking and solutions to address business needs and adapt to trends and technology for large groups.

Qualifications

Bachelor\'s degree in health, sciences, pharmacy or business-related field preferred or relevant and equivalent industry experience required.

Minimum of 5 years’ sales management experience with a successful track record of leading teams.

Ability to set a vision and a strategy; build and inspire individuals and teams for success.

Demonstrated ability to network and partner effectively across functional areas; models AbbVie’s Ways of Working.

Experience with project management.

Ability to commit to 60-75% overnight travel; travel to cover regional commitments, conferences, training events, sales meetings, and other AbbVie events.

Geographically located within region and proximity to a major airport preferred.

Valid driver\'s license; ability to pass pre-employment drug screening and meet safe driving requirements.

Ability and willingness to meet hospital credentialing/vaccination requirements.

HCIR credentialing requirements to access facilities in the territory; you are responsible for meeting all such requirements and associated liabilities.

Key Stakeholders External - Influential Physicians, Key Opinion Leaders and hospitals. Internal - Sales Representatives, District Managers, National Sales Managers, General Managers, Business Unit Managers, Commercial Directors, and other in-field roles.

Additional Information

The compensation range described below is the range of possible base pay compensation for this role at the time of posting, based on the job grade. Individual compensation will depend on location and may be modified in the future.

This job is eligible to participate in our short-term incentive programs.
