About the Opportunity Accelerate Change is seeking a freelance, short‑form video editor who deeply understands what works on social media platforms. Our ideal candidate is someone with extensive experience creating high‑performing short‑form content for TikTok, Instagram Reels, and YouTube Shorts, with the ability to scale edits to longer‑form content as needed. You understand what drives engagement on social media, from strong hooks and pacing to trend‑aware, platform‑native storytelling, and bring an experimental, creator‑first mindset to your work. You have a strong eye for visual design and know how to craft edits that feel intentional, engaging, and built for growth.

Key Responsibilities

Edit high‑performing short‑form videos optimized for TikTok, Instagram Reels, YouTube Shorts, Snapchat, and similar platforms

Craft strong opening hooks that immediately capture attention and improve watch time

Apply platform‑specific best practices (pacing, captions, formatting, storytelling) to maximize reach and retention

Stay current on trends, formats, sounds, and visual styles across social platforms

Experiment with edits, structures, and visual approaches to test what performs best

Design and implement on‑screen text, titles, captions, and visual cues with strong typography and layout instincts

Repurpose and optimize content across multiple platforms while maintaining quality and intent

Collaborate with producers and content leads on ideation, structure, and creative direction for short‑form series

Maintain brand consistency while adapting to platform‑native aesthetics

Format content correctly for each platform (aspect ratios, lengths, safe zones, captions, etc.)

Work from creative briefs and across multiple partner brand guidelines

Experience with motion graphics or light animation is a plus

What We’re Looking For

Commitment to social justice

2+ years experience with professional video editing software and motion graphics for social media video optimization

Technical expertise in industry‑standard video editing software and familiarity with current video trends and best practices for social media

Strong portfolio showcasing variety in video editing styles, motion graphics capabilities, and social media content

Creative problem‑solving skills: Think creatively and find innovative solutions to visual storytelling challenges

Excellent communication skills for understanding project requirements and collaborating with team members

Self‑motivated and deadline‑driven: Skilled in working independently, managing time effectively, and meeting deadlines consistently
