Position Summary The Director of Operations – Bill My Bank / Salt Money is a senior operational leader responsible for owning and executing the end-to-end operational strategy for the Bill My Bank brand, while being employed directly by Salt Money. This role is designed to lead Bill My Bank through its final readiness, launch, and scale phases, ensuring operational excellence, regulatory alignment, and financial discipline from day one.
Reporting directly to the President, this role serves as the primary operator for Bill My Bank and is accountable for day-to-day execution across operations, customer experience, financial workflows, and internal enablement. The Director of Operations will work cross-functionally with Engineering, Customer Support, Revenue, Finance, Compliance, and Marketing to ensure the business is scalable, resilient, and prepared for sustained growth.
While the role may expand to support additional business verticals over time, the initial mandate is 100% dedicated to Bill My Bank, with full ownership of operational outcomes.
Key Responsibilities Operational Leadership
Own all day-to-day operational functions for the Bill My Bank business, including merchant onboarding, account activation, customer support readiness, settlement coordination, and exception handling.
Develop, document, and maintain scalable operational workflows, SOPs, and internal controls that support growth while minimizing risk.
Serve as the operational decision-maker for Bill My Bank, ensuring timely resolution of issues and alignment with executive priorities.
Go-To-Market Execution & Readiness
Lead operational readiness for Bill My Bank’s market launch, including internal enablement, merchant-facing workflows, and post-activation support models.
Partner closely with Sales, Revenue, and Marketing to ensure operational alignment with go-to-market strategy and merchant acquisition efforts.
Support early-stage merchant conversations and partnerships where operational credibility and industry expertise are required to close and activate accounts.
Financial & Performance Management
Oversee operational financial performance, including cost controls, margin optimization, and unit economics.
Partner with Finance to support accurate forecasting, reconciliation, reporting, and performance analysis related to Bill My Bank operations.
Identify and address operational inefficiencies that negatively impact margin, customer experience, or scalability.
Cross-Functional Leadership
Collaborate closely with Engineering and Product teams to ensure operational requirements are reflected in system design, dashboards, and tooling.
Work with Customer Support leadership to ensure service levels, escalation paths, and customer satisfaction targets are met.
Coordinate with Legal and Compliance to ensure operational practices align with regulatory, banking, and contractual obligations.
Scalability & Continuous Improvement
Design operational systems that scale efficiently as transaction volume, merchant count, and product complexity increase.
Implement KPI-driven management practices to monitor performance and drive continuous improvement.
Prepare Bill My Bank for future growth phases, including expanded product offerings, new verticals, and increased transaction throughput.
Qualifications Required
Minimum 8+ years of experience in payments, fintech, ACH, banking, or alternative payment solutions.
Demonstrated experience launching, operating, and scaling a financial services or payments product.
Strong understanding of money movement, settlement flows, merchant onboarding, and transaction-based revenue models.
Proven ability to operate in fast-moving, high-growth environments with limited ambiguity.
Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
Executive-level communication skills with the ability to work directly with senior leadership.
Preferred
Experience operating within regulated or high-risk industries, including cannabis-adjacent or specialty payments.
Background working with both startup-stage and scaling fintech organizations.
Experience partnering closely with sales, revenue, and marketing teams during product launches.
Familiarity with CRM, merchant portals, and operational analytics platforms.
