My client is seeking an experienced Director of Engineering to lead capital project execution across their manufacturing operations. This senior leadership role requires a highly visible, hands‑on leader who thrives in an environment where engineering leadership is deeply embedded in plant operations, cross‑functional collaboration, and on‑the‑floor engagement. The successful candidate will oversee all aspects of project engineering, from concept through execution, while driving operational excellence.
Responsibilities
Lead the planning, execution, and delivery of capital projects from concept to completion
Develop and manage detailed project schedules, budgets, and timelines
Work closely with plant leadership, engineering teams, and operations in a highly visible, hands‑on capacity
Collaborate cross‑functionally to define project scope, goals, and deliverables
Identify, assess, and mitigate project risks with robust contingency planning
Partner with finance and accounting teams to manage budgets, approvals, and cost controls
Implement and improve project management tools, processes, and standards
Ensure transparent communication and alignment across all stakeholders
Track, analyze, and report project performance metrics to senior leadership
Oversee procurement of equipment, materials, and vendors for manufacturing projects
Lead special projects and support business initiatives as required
Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Industrial, Chemical, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field
7‑10+ years of experience in manufacturing environments (maintenance, process, engineering, or facilities)
Strong technical knowledge of production processes
Experience within food, beverage, dairy, or ingredients manufacturing environments preferred
Proven project management experience, including procurement and vendor oversight
CapEx budgeting and spend management expertise
Proficiency in EAM/CMMS systems (e.g., INFOR, SYS21, or similar)
Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
Analytical, data‑driven problem solver
A visible, hands‑on leadership style with the ability to influence at all levels
Results‑oriented, innovative, and self‑directed
