The Executive Director shall lead through vision and values while overseeing all day-to-day operations of the community. This includes leading team member relations, resident and family services and communication, resident well-being, vibrant resident activities, quality assurance, financial management, regulatory compliance, and all other aspects of community operations. Run the operations of the business as if it were your own. Maintain high business acumen and understanding of every department’s operations. Recruit, train and hire department managers to supervise daily operations; hire, discipline, and terminate staff as needed; schedule and staff departments; supervise quality of performance; lead inter-departmental relationships. Be approachable, fair-minded, and communicate with clarity while showing confidence and enthusiasm. Maintain composure during stressful and emergent situations. Support department heads by partnering with them to ensure efficient operations and adherence to MorningStar standards. Act in the best interest of the community, drive results, rally the team, and promote disciplined analysis of projects and problems. Serve as a Serving Leader, sharing power and putting the needs of others first to help team members develop and perform at a high level. Lead the sales culture in collaboration with the Sales and Marketing Director. Prepare and submit required reports as required by the company. Represent the community with federal, state, and local government and private agencies. Observe departmental activities and shifts to ensure compliance with MorningStar standards; engage with staff to understand needs and issues. Walk the community daily, spending time in all departments; ensure the physical plant is ready for company. Ensure a positive dining experience by having daily presence during meals and supporting the dining team as needed. Ensure compliance with company policies pertaining to resident care, human resources, financial control, public relations, maintenance of the physical plant, and procedures; collaborate with corporate and regional teams to update policies as needed. Accompany surveyors/consultants on inspections; review deficiencies and submit corrective plans as required. Evaluate performance with department heads and support the annual performance review process. Maintain confidentiality and dignity when sharing resident information with authorized agencies. Maintain daily contact with residents and families; ensure adequate supplies and equipment are available and properly stored. Actively participate in committees and ensure minutes/reports are recorded and maintained. Oversee community volunteer programs and outreach; ensure appropriate team involvement. Utilize required tools such as expense management systems and monthly spend downs. Hold regular meetings (daily stand-ups, weekly department head meetings, safety meetings, and monthly inter-departmental meetings). Core Values : Love, Kindness, Honesty, Goodness, Fairness, Respect. Experience : 3+ years as Executive Director or in a related senior living leadership role. Demonstrated competence in: financial management, human resources, building maintenance, sales culture, regulatory compliance, culinary excellence, and resident/family relationship management. Leadership : Demonstrated serving-leader mindset, approachable and clear communication. Passion : Commitment to working with seniors and building a vibrant team. Education/Credentials Education: College degree preferred but not required if experience fulfills requirements. Continuing Education: Required as per state guidelines. Licensure: Maintain applicable license/certification as required by the state. Subject matter expertise in dementia care, senior care, safety, and leading in a senior living community. Technology : Proficiency in Microsoft Office and MorningStar applications; ability to learn new tools. Time Management : Multitask effectively; willing to work weekends/evenings; on-call 24/7 as required. *Team members who are scheduled to work 24 or more hours per week are eligible for benefits, families of said team members will also be eligible.
