Overview The Digital Communications Senior Associate (DCSA) is a position on the CRES Communications Team responsible for all of CRES and CRES Forum’s digital properties, understanding CRES and CRES Forum’s many audiences including policymakers and their staff, policy organizations, outside stakeholders and supporters; and effectively communicating with them through web, print, digital and social media. The ideal candidate has an innate sense of creativity and curiosity, with a passion for high-quality graphics and video, website management, user engagement, community development and results‑driven social media strategy. This position reports to the Vice President.

The Digital Communications Senior Associate will support CRES’s mission by cultivating relationships with policymakers and stakeholders, with particular attention to engaging conservative and Republican audiences. The ideal candidate will have proven experience working with or within Republican or conservative political environments, demonstrating the skills to strengthen connections externally.

Responsibilities

In coordination with the Communications Director, conceptualize, plan and execute digital communications strategies based on the Communications annual work plan

Assist in translating CRES’ branding priorities into action by strategizing and executing day‑to‑day production of content, copy and visual assets across all CRES’ communications channels, including websites, email and social media

Coordinate and produce engaging educational videos and graphics to help disseminate clean energy and climate information to CRES audiences, e.g., clean energy and climate accomplishments of Members of Congress

Direct consultants to enhance CRES’ digital strategies, including targeted marketing and paid media campaigns

Ensure digital content on the CRES’ website is consistent with its messaging, brand standards and style guide

Create and manage content calendars for the organization’s digital channels, e.g., social media, website and emails, to promote the events and engagements of CRES’ Policy, Government Relations and External Relations departments

Collaborate with Communications, Government Relations and External Relations to bolster comprehensive media strategy; provide recommendations on how to enhance CRES’ social media strategy to expand its grassroots audience and influence policymaking

Coordinate with counterparts at allied organizations to amplify our partners and grow CRES’ digital audience

Monitor trends and audience engagement and provide detailed analyses of CRES’ web, social media and email marketing activities to develop data‑driven strategies

Develop detailed campaign briefs and toolkits for internal and external teams to deploy relevant and compelling content

Maintain contact databases for different audiences

Support Communications Director with written work such as blogs, op‑eds and newsletters

Perform other duties as assigned

Education and Experience Required:

Minimum of 3–5 years of professional experience in independently managing social media accounts for multiple clients or in‑house for a national brand, government agency, political campaign or elected official

Proven experience working with or within Republican or conservative political environments

Bachelor’s degree, preferably in Advertising, Communications, Marketing or Graphic Design

Must demonstrate a deep understanding of how to best leverage major social media platforms and trends, including LinkedIn, Twitter and Facebook

Must demonstrate proficiency in design software programs such as Adobe Suite, Microsoft and Canva

Ability to create short‑form copy, graphics and video that is compelling, educational and technically sound

Effective storyteller through online tools (written, video, images)

Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Highly organized and adept at managing multiple projects and clients simultaneously at a high standard in a fast‑paced, deadline‑driven environment

Experience in web design or third‑party web builders such as WordPress or Cvent

Experience in using email marketing and automation sites such as Meltwater, Mailchimp, etc.

Preferred:

Background in climate and clean energy policy

Possess an entrepreneurial spirit, regularly identifying opportunities to advance the CRES agenda and maximizing those opportunities

Operating style suited to working in a start‑up organization setting, where teamwork, initiative and resourcefulness are highly valued

Able and willing to travel occasionally
