Role Summary
The Senior Director of SAP Applications & Digital Utilities is responsible for defining and executing the enterprise SAP strategy supporting the Energy Utility value chain. This role provides executive leadership for SAP IS-U, S/4HANA, Enterprise Asset Management (EAM), and Field Service Management (FSM) platforms, ensuring scalable, secure, and resilient solutions that enable customer operations, asset reliability, field workforce efficiency, and regulatory compliance.
The role partners closely with business leaders across Customer Operations, Asset Management, Field Services, Finance, Supply Chain, and Regulatory Affairs to drive digital transformation, optimize operational performance, and maximize return on SAP investments.
Key Responsibilities Strategic Leadership & Vision
Define and own the
SAP roadmap
for utility operations, including
IS-U on S/4HANA , EAM, and FSM, aligned with corporate digital and grid modernization strategies.
Lead large-scale
S/4HANA transformation programs , including ECC to S/4HANA migrations, brownfield/greenfield strategies, and IS-U modernization.
Establish long-term architecture standards and integration patterns across SAP and non-SAP platforms (GIS, AMI, OMS, ADMS, CIS, mobile).
SAP IS-U & Customer Operations
Provide executive oversight of
SAP IS-U
capabilities including:
Customer master and contract management
Meter-to-Cash (M2C) processes
Billing, invoicing, and collections
Device and meter data integration
Regulatory and rate compliance
Partner with Customer Service and Regulatory teams to ensure system solutions meet evolving utility regulations and customer experience expectations.
S/4HANA Finance & Core ERP
Oversee SAP
S/4HANA Finance, Controlling, and Supply Chain
integration with IS-U and operational systems.
Ensure financial transparency, asset capitalization accuracy, and regulatory reporting readiness.
Drive adoption of SAP best practices while balancing utility-specific requirements.
Lead strategy and execution for
SAP EAM
to support:
Preventive and corrective maintenance
Work management and planning
Enable improved asset reliability, safety, and regulatory compliance across generation, transmission, and distribution assets.
Field Service Management (FSM)
Provide leadership for
SAP Field Service Management (FSM)
solutions to optimize:
Field workforce scheduling and dispatch
Mobile work execution
Real-time visibility into field operations
Ensure seamless integration between FSM, EAM, IS-U, GIS, and mobile platforms.
Governance, Delivery & Operations
Establish strong
SAP governance , including architecture review boards, change management, and release management.
Oversee system availability, performance, cybersecurity, and disaster recovery for mission-critical SAP platforms.
Manage large systems integrators, SAP partners, and offshore/onshore delivery teams.
Lead and develop high-performing SAP product, architecture, and delivery teams.
Own SAP application budgets, vendor contracts, and licensing optimization.
Drive cost efficiency while enabling innovation and business agility.
Required Qualifications Education
Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Engineering, Business, or related field
Master’s degree or MBA preferred
Experience
15+ years of progressive SAP leadership experience, with 10+ years in the Energy or Utility industry
Proven executive leadership of
SAP IS-U
implementations and operations
Strong hands‑on leadership with
SAP EAM
and
SAP FSM
Experience managing large, complex, multi‑year SAP programs ($10M+)
Technical & Functional Expertise
