Job Description
At RBC Capital Markets, we are building the next generation of insight-driven leadership. We are seeking a Vice President-level sales professional to join the Global Markets team as a Short‑Term Credit Salesperson. This role is a senior individual contributor position with significant client‑facing responsibility and revenue accountability.
The VP will be responsible for the distribution and sales of short‑term, investment grade credit products to institutional clients and is expected to independently manage a meaningful client book, generate revenue, and deepen wallet share across existing relationships. The role requires strong product expertise across Commercial Paper (CP), Certificates of Deposit (YCD), Asset‑Backed Commercial Paper (ABCP), and other money market instruments, as well as the ability to partner closely with trading, funding, and investor marketing teams to support balance‑sheet objectives and business growth.
What will you do?
Serve as a primary point of contact for assigned institutional clients, providing market insight, product solutions, and consistent senior‑level coverage
Independently originate, execute, and grow short‑term credit sales activity across CP, YCD, ABS, and related products
Partner closely with traders to align client demand with market conditions, inventory, and funding strategies
Proactively manage and expand an existing client portfolio while identifying and developing new institutional relationships
Demonstrate strong judgment in prioritizing client opportunities and deploying time toward the highest risk‑adjusted returns
Represent RBC at client meetings, due diligence sessions, and industry conferences; travel as required
Ensure full compliance with regulatory requirements, internal controls, and RBC policies
Act as a role model for RBC's values, conduct standards, and risk culture
What do you need to succeed?
5+ years of relevant experience in short‑term credit sales, money markets, or fixed income distribution
Deep knowledge of short‑term credit instruments, including CP, YCD, and ABS
Demonstrated ability to operate independently while managing multiple priorities in a fast‑paced trading floor environment
Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to clearly articulate market views and product strategies to sophisticated clients
Proven track record of covering institutional fixed income accounts and generating revenue
Strong client relationship management and business development capabilities
Collaborative, solutions‑oriented team player with a high degree of professionalism and accountability
Bachelor's degree required; MBA preferred
FINRA Series 7 and 63 licenses required
Authorities, Impact, and Risk
Broad discretion to manage client relationships and focus sales efforts within approved risk and balance‑sheet parameters
Material impact on revenue generation, client retention, and RBC's market presence in short‑term credit
Client‑facing role with reputational impact; requires sound judgment, professionalism, and adherence to RBC conduct standards
Expected to proactively identify operational risks, control gaps, and escalation issues within the business
Key Relationships

Reports to: Head of Short‑Term Credit Sales

Desk Strategy Team

What's in It for You
The expected base salary for this role is $225,000, based on experience, skills, registration status, market conditions, and business needs.
This position is eligible for RBC's discretionary variable compensation program, providing the opportunity to earn additional compensation based on individual performance and overall business results.
