
Cooperidge Consulting Firm is seeking an Assistant Program Director for a premier Nursing Education Program in San Jose, CA.
This high-impact leadership role is responsible for the strategic development, management, and evaluation of the Vocational Nursing program. The Assistant Program Director serves as a vital bridge between the institution, the Board of Vocational Nursing and (BVNPT), and clinical partners. This position requires a "player-coach" mindset, as it involves 50% active teaching alongside senior administrative duties, including faculty recruitment, curriculum oversight, and rigorous clinical site evaluations.
Job Responsibilities
- Regulatory Oversight: Manage and update all aspects of the nursing program to ensure strict compliance with BVNPT regulations and state requirements; prepare self-studies, surveys, and site visit reports.
- Clinical Partnership Management: Develop and maintain educational partnerships with clinical sites; conduct thorough risk, hazard, and safety assessments for all student rotations.
- Administrative Leadership: Oversee the student admission process, orientation, and graduation audits; ensure all students meet documentation requirements for licensing exams.
- Faculty Management: Lead faculty recruitment, hiring, and orientation; facilitate regular meetings and manage the scheduling of faculty for classroom and clinical instruction.
- Instructional Quality: Monitor the quality of instruction through regular evaluations and strategic planning; participate in the development of program policies and procedures.
- Active Instruction: Maintain a 50% teaching load , delivering core nursing theory and/or clinical supervision to students.
- Committee Engagement: Plan and implement Nursing Advisory Committee meetings and lead various internal academic committees.
- Student Advising: Provide dedicated support, planning assistance, and academic advising to both potential and current nursing students.
Education & Licensing
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) is REQUIRED (Higher degree preferred).
- Current and active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of California is REQUIRED.
- Must have completed approved coursework in Administration, Teaching, and Curriculum Development .
Experience
- Minimum of three (3) years of experience as an RN is REQUIRED.
- Teaching Experience: Minimum of one (1) year in teaching or clinical supervision within a state-approved nursing program (within the last 5 years).
- Alternative Experience: Minimum of three (3) years in nursing administration or nursing education within the last five years.
- Strong working knowledge of State rules and regulations as they relate to the practice of Vocational Nursing.
