Job Description
The Director of Finance is responsible for overseeing all financial operations of the hotel. This includes budgeting, forecasting, financial reporting, accounting, tax compliance, and risk management. The ideal candidate will have a strong financial acumen, excellent leadership skills, and a deep understanding of the hospitality industry.
Responsibilities
- Financial Planning and Analysis:
- Develop and implement annual budgets and forecasts.
- Monitor financial performance and identify opportunities for improvement.
- Analyze financial data to identify trends and make informed decisions.
- Prepare regular financial reports for management and ownership.
- Accounting and Control:
- Oversee the general ledger, accounts receivable, accounts payable, and payroll functions.
- Ensure accurate and timely financial reporting.
- Implement and maintain strong internal controls.
- Manage the annual audit process.
- Tax Compliance:
- Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local tax laws and regulations.
- Prepare and file tax returns.
- Risk Management:
- Identify and mitigate financial risks.
- Develop and implement risk management policies and procedures.
- Monitor insurance coverage and claims.
- Team Leadership:
- Recruit, hire, and train a high-performing finance team.
- Provide leadership and mentorship to the finance team.
- Foster a positive and collaborative work environment.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
- 10+ years of experience in finance and accounting, preferably in the hospitality industry.
- Strong understanding of GAAP and tax laws.
- Proven leadership and management skills.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Proficiency in financial software
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
