The Director of Finance & Controller is a senior leadership role at AGS Company Automotive Solutions, responsible for both the strategic direction and operational execution of the companys financial function. This role owns the integrity, accuracy, and scalability of financial operations across a complex, multi-entity business that includes U.S.-based manufacturing and operations in Michigan, a distribution center, an international entity in Vietnam, and a growing eCommerce business.

This position requires a seasoned finance leader who is equally comfortable setting financial strategy, partnering with executive leadership, and rolling up their sleeves to ensure the numbers are right. The Director of Finance & Controller serves as the financial authority for the organization, bringing structure to complexity, discipline to systems, and clarity to decision-making, particularly within a challenging ERP environment.

Key Responsibilities

Financial Leadership & Oversight

Own the companys financial close process (monthly, quarterly, annual) across all entities, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and consistencyPrepare and present financial statements, management reports, and variance analysis to execute leadershipEnsure strong internal controls, segregation of duties, and compliance with GAAP and appliable regulatory requirementsLead audit preparation and coordination (financial, tax, banking, and insurance)

 

Multi-Entity International Accounting

Manage consolidation financial reporting across US operations, distribution, eCommerce, and Vietnam entityOversee inter-company transactions, transfer pricing considerations, eliminations, and reconciliationsPartner with external international accounting resources to ensure local compliance while maintain global consistency

 

ERP Ownership & Financial Systems

Serve as financial owner and subject matter expert of AGS ERP systemEnsure accurate configuration, usage, and continuous improvement of ERP financial modules (GL, AP, AR, Inventory, Costing)Identify gaps, risks, and inefficiencies within ERP and drive corrective actionsPartner cross-functionally with Operations, Supply Chain, and IT to ensure data integrity and process alignment 

Cost Accounting & Operations Support

Oversee inventory accounting, standard costing, variances, and margin analysisPartner closely with Operations and Supply Chain leaders to provide clear insight into labor, material, freight, and overhead costsSupport pricing analysis, margin improvement initiatives, and make-v-buy decisions

 

Budgeting, Forecasting & Strategy

Lead the annual budgeting and periodic forecasting process across all business unitsBuild and maintain financial models to support growth initiatives, capital investments, pricing decisions, and resource allocationProvide forward-looking financial insights, scenario analysis, and risk assessments to executive leadershipPartner with leadership on long-term financial planning, cash flow strategy, and capital structure considerations

Culture, Collaboration & Leadership

Act as primary financial authority and thought partner to executive leadershipSet financial standards, discipline, and decision frameworks across organizationEstablish and enforce financial policies, procedures, and internal controlsLead ERP governance and ensure financial data integrityIdentify financial, operational, and systems-related risks early and recommend mitigation strategiesSupport banking relationships, audits, financing activities, and potential due diligence effortsDrive continuous improvement across accounting, inventory, costing, and reportingBalance strategy leadership with hands-on execution as required

 Qualifications & Experience

Bachelors degree in accounting or finance (CPA strongly preferred)8+ years of progressive accounting/finance experience, including Controller-level responsibilityProven experience in manufacturing and inventory-based environments (required)Experience with multi-entity and international accounting structuresDeep ERP experience, including implementation, cleanup, or significant optimizationStrong understanding of cost accounting, inventory controls, and operational financeAbility to operate at both strategic and hands-on levelsHigh level of integrity, accountability, and resilience

Salary & Bonus

Base Salary Range: $150,000 - $175,000(Range is based on experience, skills, and role alignment within the organization.)Bonus Eligibility:Eligible for a performance-based bonus of up 10 15% of base annual salary, based on individual, team, and company performance.
