JR101295# **Description:**## Job Description Summary:The Director of Institutional Effectiveness is a senior position in the academic division, reporting directly to the Academic Vice President and Provost. The director is responsible for overall institutional assessment. As such he/she leads, conducts, analyzes, and reports on comprehensive student learning outcomes, co-curricular assessments as well as institutional performance parameters (except financial). The director communicates actively with the Senior Academic Leadership Team, the Institutional Effectiveness Committee, and, on request, the Board of Regents. The Director also serves as the Accreditation Liaison Officer (ALO) to WSCUC. The Director collaborates closely and effectively with the Director of Institutional in all professional accountabilities.# Duties and Responsibilities:**(30%) Student Learning Outcomes and Co-curricular Assessment – Consult with Deans, Chairs, Directors, and general faculty on the development and alignment of** course, program, and institutional student learning outcomes using a variety of direct and indirect assessment methods. Secures and systemizes valid and reliable evidence of student learning. Provides assessment expertise to faculty and student support units in planning, measuring, and analyzing assessment results.**(25%) Analysis and Reporting of Assessment Results -** Create mechanisms and processes to ensure that all assessment information is clear, accurate, and accessible, both on SMU’s website and other publications. Produces professional and high-quality annual reports on institutional performance, student performance outcomes, and learning analytics. Presents critical assessment findings on a continuous basis to the senior academic leadership team and other stakeholders. Implements strategies to use assessment results to make continuous improvements.**(25%) Regional and Specialty Accreditation -** In collaboration with institutional leadership, lead the WSCUC reaffirmation efforts as ALO. Manage the entire reaccreditation process, including visits and institutional responses to action letters. Be current on WSCUC standards, processes, and policies. Manage the annual reporting, substantive change process, and submissions. Attend ALO workshop at the Annual Resource Conference (ARC) and other ARC and WSCUC educational programming events and meetings. Provide assessment expertise to programs undergoing specialty accreditation when required.**(10%) Program Review and Evaluation –** In concert with deans/chairs/directors, lead program review efforts across the institution to include planning, coordinating, and collecting data and writing summary evaluation reports. Define, implement, and document best practices for assessment and evaluation that are in alignment with accreditation requirements and continuous improvement.**(10%) Collaborations and Advising -** Build effective, collaborative relationships among a diverse population of faculty, staff, and external groups that enhances institutional assessment and performance. Serve as a trusted advisor to the senior academic leadership team on matters related to educational assessment and institutional effectiveness. Chairs the Institutional Effectiveness Committee, WSCUC Steering Committee, and other standing committees at SMU.**Skills and Abilities (required):*** Thorough knowledge of advanced assessment systems, practices, analytic techniques, and related current literature. Extensive knowledge of and experience in conducting evaluation and assessment studies, at the course, program, and institutional levels.* Demonstrated ability to apply qualitative .and quantitative research designs and statistical (descriptive and inferential) techniques.* Expertise working with SPSS, complex spreadsheets, SQL, Tableau, and web displays.* Strong working knowledge of specialized and regional accreditations and certifications.* Demonstrated writing competence with a focus on synthesis.* Demonstrated record of effective relationships and interactions with executive leadership.* Ability to handle multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.**Education and/or Experience (required):*** Doctorate in education research, assessment, evaluation, or psychometrics, with 5-7 years of progressively responsible experience in higher education assessment.* Must have direct experience with the regional accreditation process, including policy expertise, self-study planning, and onsite team management.### Employee Status:Regular### Exemption Status:United States of America (Exempt)### Time Type:Full time### Job Shift:**Pay Range:**$95,000 to $140,000 annuallySamuel Merritt University currently provides base salary ranges for all positions-on job advertisements-in the United States based on local requirements.
