Montessori Children’s House and School (MCHS) has an open Assistant Director position.
Mission Statement:
The mission of MCHS is to provide a learning environment based on the Montessori principles, which assist children in their preparation for life.
Position Summary:
The Assistant Director is a key member of the MCHS administrative team. You will support the Head of School (HOS) in leading MCHS and be instrumental to the school’s operation. Qualified candidates must possess excellent communication skills, demonstrate sound judgment in decision-making, and excel at problem-solving. Proficiency with office software and technology is essential. Occasional nights and weekends for school events are required. Start Date: Summer 2024
Key Responsibilities:
School Administration and Staff Management
Facilitate the smooth operation of the school, including working closely with teachers and other staff members
Work with HOS to create a positive staff culture of support, teamwork, and enthusiasm for the school
Support HOS to ensure the school complies with all licensing standards and regulations
Alternate with HOS in overseeing emergency response and facility maintenance during school breaks
Work closely with the Head of Technology to manage IT equipment and software
Lead the school when HOS is on vacation or out of the school
Parent and Community Engagement
Partner with parents, staff, and other members of the MCHS community on shared goals to create a supportive, mission-driven environment
Develop and execute strategically designed marketing campaigns to drive enrollment
Oversee the alum database and facilitate alum engagement
Educational Leadership
Aid in upholding Montessori educational principles and be able to explain the school’s pedagogical approach to current and prospective parents
Build strong relationships with teachers, students, colleagues, parents, and broader communities that embody Montessori principles and values
Foster student retention through school communications, public relations opportunities, and by supporting parent/teacher relationships
Plan and coordinate After School Enrichment and Summer School programs
Attend and assist with coordinating all school events training programs, and conferences as requested
Substitute in classes as needed
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree
AMI or AMS certification preferred with 3 years of experience as a Director or Assistant Director in a Montessori or equivalent school setting
Meet the qualifications to be a Childcare Center Director in Texas, or complete training to become qualified as a Childcare Center Director in Texas within four months of hiring
Proficiency in Texas Health and Human Services Minimum Standards for Childcare Centers
Robust office technology and software proficiency, including Microsoft Office software and Google Workspace
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Situational/operational awareness
Service-oriented personality
Ability to anticipate, plan, organize, and prioritize
Strong troubleshooting skills and attention to detail
Good with children
Kind, honest, and tactful
