The Director of Financial Aid oversees the administration and operation of Federal, State and institutional financial assistance programs and scholarships. The position is responsible for advancing the college’s vision, mission, purpose and values across multiple campuses and provides leadership in the ongoing development and analysis of processes and procedures as needed to support positive and effective change; responsible for planning, developing, organizing, managing and evaluating all services; initiates plans and actions to assess and maintain programs and services; organizes and facilities group discussions within the financial aid department to generate ideas, goal setting, and decision-making functions to improve functions; meets regularly with staff and faculty to determine issues and discuss needs within the assigned department.
Manages, develops and oversees the daily operations of Financial Aid.
Provides leadership and supervision of professional, clerical, student workers and part-time staff that assure a student-centered approach to financial aid administration.
Evaluates existing Financial Aid Office policies, making recommendations for changes to improve office efficiency and keep up with current technology.
Oversees the completion and submission of federal, state, and institutional reports for financial aid, exemptions, and VA benefits.
Develops and implements procedures for financial aid audits, and other external agencies. Responds to questions regarding policies and procedures.
Manages budget and expenditures for the unit.
Develops and maintains internal control structures for financial aid
Monitors progress and productivity of assigned staff.
Reviews operations for compliance with applicable regulations and standards.
Participates in strategic planning.
Develops priorities and goals in support of enrollment management and the academic mission of the college.
Supervise and/or perform all areas of VA.
Performs research and analysis for special projects.
Coordinates departmental activities with federal, state and local agencies. Serves on various boards, committees, etc.
Oversees the communication with the campus community and external audiences regarding financial aid programs and services.
Assists with the design and execution of special events, projects and activities.
Coordinates the financial assistance program available to enrolled students, including scholarships, grants, work study programs, and student loans. (Performed by all incumbents)
Provides information to technical college prospective and enrolled students concerning state and federal financial assistance and technical college policy/procedures. (Performed by all incumbents)
Maintains current knowledge of TCSG operations and policies, federal and state student financial assistance programs and laws governing such and technical college procedures. (Performed by all incumbents)
Creates and maintains a high-performance environment characterized by positive leadership and strong team orientation. (Performed by all incumbents)
Coordinates the preparation and maintenance of all active and inactive financial aid program files and other related student financial aid records. (Performed by all incumbents.)

Performs recruitment activities and provides information to feeder schools. (Performed by some incumbents)
