Responsibilities

Support the Office of Financial Assistance in providing university-wide financial aid resources.

Review a case load of prospective and returning students, advising on financing options and payment plans.

Represent the University in financial aid recruitment and student events.

Counsel and advise students and parents on financial aid packages, loan programs, and all aspects of the financial aid process.

Verify student financial aid information to ensure accuracy and compliance.

Determine the entire financial aid award for each student file in the assigned alpha split case load.

Process federal, state, institutional, and private aid, providing exceptional customer service to current and prospective families and students.

Participate in the development and delivery of presentation materials, workshops, and presentations related to financial assistance.

Attend and represent the department at University events, including Accepted Students Days, Orientations, Open Houses, Student Recruitment Events, and opening weekend for all Undergraduate and Graduate events.

Administer Military Benefits and Title IV refunds, post available grants and loans, certify student eligibility, and reconcile financial aid funds on a monthly basis.

Administer the FWS Program, including the FISAP report, tracking spending, and the 7% community match.

Abide by the policies and procedures of the Office of Financial Assistance and assist in setting up PowerFAIDS and Colleague.

Maintain knowledge of national trends in higher education, particularly in financial aid and enrollment management.

Present on and off‑campus financial aid informational sessions and participate in University committees as assigned.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.

Minimum of three years of Financial Aid experience or experience within higher education.

Proven experience with financial aid software or comparable systems.

Knowledge of policies, regulations, and practices for awarding financial aid.

Ability to effectively respond to student, parent, and organizational questions in a cooperative and courteous manner.

Independent work capability with minimum instruction and supervision, maintaining records and creating accurate reports.

Key role in recruiting and supporting new students, providing opportunities to achieve personal goals.

Experience working with diverse families from varying socio-economic backgrounds, supporting the university’s focus on diversity, equity, and inclusion.

Medium to strong computer skills, especially advanced Microsoft Office Suite and Excel, and comfort learning other systems.

Excellent time management skills.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience with the PowerFAIDS Financial Aid system is strongly preferred.
