The Zoo is seeking a dynamic, efficient, and enthusiastic individual to serve as Public Relations Coordinator. The Public Relations Coordinator position will have the highly visible and important role of organizing and representing the North Carolina Zoo at public speaking engagements, priority tours, and other writing or PR assignments as needed under the direction of the Zoo’s Public Relations Officer. The key focus of the PR Coordinator is to influence the public perception of the brand, promote the Zoo's mission, and market the Zoo experience. This person must be engaging, professional in appearance, a strategic and analytical thinker, quick decision-maker, self-starter, flexible, and an excellent written/verbal communicator. The Public Relations Coordinator will work on the Communications team and regularly assist with external stakeholder presentations, media escorts, and professional writing assignments.
Key Responsibilities
• Plans, schedules logistics, and leads priority tours around the Zoo.
• Drafts, edits, and publishes web copy, radio ad scripts, and blogs/articles as needed.
• Assists with the implementation and execution of communications team-related activities.
• Represents the organization through effective public speaking and professional presentations
• Utilizes news media effectively by delivering on-camera interviews, preparing press releases, and leading media escorts/tours.**Knowledge Skills and Abilities/Management Preferences****Recruitment Range: $41,655 - $50,000****To receive credit for your work history and credentials, you must provide the information on the application form.
