They offer comprehensive HIV care, harm reduction, and outreach programs grounded in equity, compassion, and community empowerment.
We are seeking a Senior Manager of Harm Reduction Services to lead the charge in designing, implementing, and evaluating evidence-based harm reduction initiatives aimed at reducing the negative impacts of substance use. You will directly supervise a passionate team, manage program operations, and champion community-centered care for populations most impacted by HIV/AIDS and substance use—including Black, Latino, LGBTQ+, and underserved communities.
Location : Chicago, IL
Key Responsibilities:
Design and oversee harm reduction programs tailored to community needs.
Ensure compliance with evidence-based practices and grant requirements.
Develop and manage program budgets, resources, and contracts.
Collaborate with senior staff on strategic planning and funding expansion.
Staff Supervision & Development
Lead, mentor, and evaluate Harm Reduction/Link Up Specialists.
Facilitate staff training in overdose prevention, crisis intervention, and cultural competence.
Support recruitment, onboarding, and professional development.
Direct Client Services
Provide harm reduction counseling, wound care education, HIV/STI testing, and overdose prevention.
Train staff and community partners on safer drug use, Narcan, and fentanyl/xylazine strip usage.
Engage clients through street, event, and online outreach.
Serve as the go-to expert in crisis situations related to drug use or overdose.
Develop emergency protocols and ensure staff readiness.
Community Engagement & Advocacy
Build and maintain relationships with healthcare providers, law enforcement, and community organizations.
Represent the organization at community events, strategic outreach, and policy planning tables.
Data, Evaluation & Reporting
Collect and analyze program data for internal improvement and external reporting.
Prepare grant reports and presentations for leadership and funders.
Qualifications and skills:
3–5 years in harm reduction, substance use, or HIV prevention
2+ years supervising staff or managing programs
Grant writing, data evaluation, and reporting experience
Master’s in Public Health, Social Work, Counseling, or related fieldrequired
CADCrequired| LSW, LCSW, LPC, or LCPCpreferred
Strong leadership and crisis response skills
Culturally competent and passionate about serving Black, Latino, and LGBTQ+ communities
Fluent in English; Spanish a plus
IDPH HIV Testing Certification (or willingness to obtain in 6 months)
Proficient in Microsoft Office and data systems
Valid driver’s license & reliable transportation
