Since our founding in 1890, Church of the Ascension has served as a place of sanctuary and celebration for the people of North Minneapolis. Ascension parish is a multi cultural Catholic community that provides a sanctuary in which all are invited to recognize, acknowledge and live God’s presence.
Ascension Catholic Academy (ACA) is a ministry of Ascension Catholic Church and is a consortium of four Catholic schools: Ascension in North Minneapolis, St. John Paul II in NE Minneapolis, St. Peter Claver in St. Paul and St. Pascal Regional on the east side of St. Paul. ACA provides centralized leadership and governance to ensure excellence, accessibility, and sustainability for our schools.

PURPOSE OF POSITION
The Communications Manager supports the Advancement Department of Ascension Catholic Academy.
This role is responsible for collaborating with the Director of Communications to develop, execute and maintain timely and engaging communications for Ascension Catholic Church, Ascension Catholic Academy and its schools.
This position operates in alignment with Ascension Parish’s mission of providing a sanctuary in which all are invited to recognize, acknowledge, and live in God’s presence.
GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES
Employment in and by the Roman Catholic Church is substantially different from secular employment. Church employees must conduct themselves in a manner that is consistent with and supportive of the mission and purpose of the Church. Their behavior must not violate the faith, morals or laws of the Church or the Archdiocese of Saint Paul and Minneapolis, such that it can embarrass the Church or give rise to scandal. This position does not require that the employee be Catholic. It is expected that all employees respect Catholic doctrine and religious practices.
REPRESENTATIVE RESPONSIBILITIES
Write, edit, design and work with vendors to print and mail publications, appeals and other printed materials. This includes but is not limited to:
Semiannual Update booklets
Annual report
Christmas and Valentine cards
Invitations to events
Posters
Weekly parish newsletter
Remittance envelopes
Enrollment materials
Write appeal letters as needed for ACA and parish campaigns.
With the Director of Communications, ensure that Ascension Catholic Church, ACA and its schools’ websites are regularly updated with comprehensive information about parish activity, student success, enrollment opportunities, invitations to provide financial support and volunteer opportunities.
Take and edit photographs of school and parish events, classroom activities and extracurricular activities for use in social media, publications and websites.
Ensure that ACA branding is used correctly across the Academy.
Maintain relationships with vendors for web-related services.
Assist Advancement Team members with large events and special projects.

Salary Range $50,000-$60,000 annually
