
Overview
Kimley-Horn is looking for a UI/UX Designer to join our firmwide Technology Solutions team! As a UI/UX Designer, you will create intuitive, user-centered designs, identify and prioritize product needs, and collaborate closely with our cross-functional teams to deliver exceptional experiences. The ideal candidate will be creative, flexible, results-oriented and have a desire to build their career at Kimley-Horn.
This is an in-office position.
Responsibilities
Design and support existing and emerging software products in Kimley-Horn’s portfolio
Collaborate with product teams to understand customer needs and pain points, and translate those insights into functional requirements.
Produce high quality design deliverables, including user flows, wireframes, and prototypes that are intuitive, on-brand and meet functionality requirements
Document design decisions and specifications to ensure alignment across development and QA teams.
Conduct user research and usability testing to analyze user behaviors, validate design decisions and improve user experience.
Stay informed on industry trends and apply best practices in UI/UX design and accessibility standards.
Partner with cross-functional teams including software developers, QA, product owners, and engineers to ensure the seamless implementation of user-centric designs.
Thrive as part of a specialized Product Development team and play a central role in shaping our brand’s evolution within the product space
Qualifications
BA/BS in Graphic Design, Human-Centered Design, or a similar field
2+ years of related work experience
Proficiency in Figma and FigJam
Basic knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite and Microsoft Office
Proactive self-starter with the ability to work independently
Excellent visual design skills with an emphasis on clean, modern aesthetic
Excellent organization and time management skills
Natural collaborator with strong verbal and written communication skills
Team player with a positive, solution‑seeking attitude and a high sense of personal responsibility
Preferred Technical Experience
UI/UX or Product Design certification through bootcamp
Experience with accessibility standards is a plus
A blend of creativity and technical understanding, allowing you to visualize designs that are both striking and feasible.
