NOTE: This role may be filled at the Underwriter or Senior Underwriter level, depending on the selected candidate’s experience, technical expertise, and demonstrated underwriting acumen.
Essential Functions
Help manage and assist development of MOTER’s Commercial Lines insurance products and specialized programs.
Underwrite Commercial Auto insurance business within your level of authority.
Actively contribute to the profitable growth of MOTER’s insurance operations division.
Assist in all aspects of the underwriting process, including reviewing submissions, processing endorsement requests, and binding and issuing new business and renewal policies.
Process policy change endorsements and update account information in Guidewire.
Assist in future enhancements to our Policy Administration System (Guidewire).
Support & strengthen relationships with MOTER’s appointed brokers/distribution partners.
Support the MOTER Finance team with all insurance accounting functions.
Assist in developing business reports and writing summary reports for stakeholders.
Support MOTER’s Tech Ops team with various assignments/tasks – as needed.
Attend and participate in various Industry conferences throughout the year, representing MOTER and promoting our MGA/Insurance Operations division.
Assist and support VP – Commercial Auto with any other assigned tasks, as needed.
Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Bachelor\'s degree in Insurance, Actuarial Science, or Business Administration or equivalent work experience.
4+ years of Commercial Lines underwriting experience, specifically in Commercial Auto fleet accounts (10+ power units) including Public Auto and Business Auto.
Experience underwriting both on the Carrier side and in a Managing General Agency.
Strong knowledge of P&C Insurance industry, including underwriting, reinsurance, product management, business development, and risk management.
Experience working with regional and national insurance carriers and company underwriters.
Extensive knowledge of Policy Administration systems, including policy rating, familiarity with Agency Management Systems or similar electronic data storage systems.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Teams).
Strong written and verbal communication skills, interpersonal skills, and problem-solving abilities.
Strong work ethic, self-motivation, and follow-up skills.
Organized with effective time management skills and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
Familiarity with Dash Cameras and Telematics technology, and Risk Management applications.
Professional certifications such as CPCU, CIC, or AINS preferred.
Property & Casualty Insurance license a plus.
Must have legal authorization to work in the U.S. without sponsorship.
Office Location
Torrance, CA - Hybrid (Tuesday and Thursday in office)
Remote options may be available for candidates living outside the LA Metro teleworking area.

Compensation
The salary range for this position is $82,000-$140,000, depending on level, experience and qualifications. Final compensation will be determined based on the role level assigned (Underwriter or Senior Underwriter).
