OVERVIEW The Marketing Campaign Programmer is a key member of the Customer 360 Data Enablement Team, responsible for translating marketing campaign intent into high‑quality, testable business and technical solutions. This role internalizes campaign requirements, ensures they are complete, consistent, and approved by key stakeholders, and builds technical specifications that support accurate and timely campaign execution.

Partnering closely with Quality Assurance (QC), analytics, data sourcing, and channel teams, the Marketing Campaign Programmer leverages Customer 360 data assets and the Amperity platform to build, test, and deliver compliant marketing campaigns. The role requires strong data curiosity, technical proficiency, attention to detail, and the ability to collaborate effectively in a cross‑functional, Agile environment while adhering to internal development standards, regulatory requirements, and data governance policies.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES 1. Requirement Review & Refinement

Review, internalize, and refine campaign requirements to ensure they are complete, consistent, clear, and testable.

Apply industry best practices and guidance from experienced team members to strengthen requirement quality and traceability.

Identify gaps, ambiguities, or risks in business requirements and propose refinements for alignment with campaign goals and data capabilities.

2. Stakeholder Review & Approval

Partner with Quality Assurance (QC), business stakeholders, analytics teams, and channel managers to review refined requirements.

Obtain timely approvals on finalized requirements to support efficient campaign build and delivery.

Ensure stakeholder alignment before proceeding to technical design and execution.

3. Technical Specification Development

Develop detailed technical specifications that translate approved business requirements into Customer 360 data assets within the Amperity platform.

Document data sources, transformations, business logic, filters, and segmentation required for campaign execution.

Maintain clear traceability between business requirements and technical implementation.

4. Campaign & Segment Build

Build high‑quality, testable SQL and campaign components leveraging Amperity capabilities.

Develop and configure campaign segments, triggers, journeys, and executions in alignment with approved technical specifications.

Ensure builds adhere to performance, scalability, and reusability standards.

5. Quality Assurance Collaboration

Collaborate closely with the QC team during test case execution.

Respond to QC questions, clarify logic, and provide supporting documentation as testing is performed.

Support defect triage and prioritization during the testing phase.

6. Issue Remediation

Analyze and remediate defects, data issues, or gaps identified through QC testing.

Update requirements, technical specifications, or campaign configurations as needed to address findings.

Re‑validate fixes in partnership with QC to ensure successful resolution.

7. Customer 360 Data Enablement

Continuously internalize and deepen understanding of the Customer 360 data platform, including customer, relationship, product, and services domain data.

Leverage this knowledge to improve requirement quality, campaign design, and execution accuracy.

8. Planning, Delivery, & Continuous Improvement

Collaborate with the manager and team to plan work, identify dependencies, and surface potential blockers.

Actively engage team members and leadership to unblock work items and ensure timely planning and delivery.

Participate in Agile ceremonies and contribute to continuous improvement of campaign delivery processes.

Ongoing Responsibilities & Governance

Collaborate closely with analytics, data sourcing, and channel teams to ensure accurate requirements and consistent, compliant use of customer data.

Maintain accurate metadata, transformation logic, and end‑to‑end data lineage to support transparency and data governance.

Proactively evaluate, identify, and remediate data quality issues to ensure reliable and accurate campaign outputs.

Ensure compliance with internal campaign development standards, regulatory requirements, and data governance policies.

Demonstrate strong data curiosity by continuously learning and exploring the Customer 360 data landscape.

Collaborate effectively in a cross‑functional, Agile environment to deliver high‑quality, compliant marketing campaign solutions.

Identify and elevate data, risk, or compliance issues as appropriate.

Perform other related duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED

Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of 3 years related experience, or in lieu of a degree, a combined minimum of 7 years higher education and/or work experience, including a minimum of 3 years related experience

Knowledge of relational databases

Knowledge of the types of issues data can have

Basic knowledge of data management

Advanced skills in Structured Query Language (SQL)

Basic knowledge of statistics, data science techniques and tools

Data curious

IDEAL QUALIFICATIONS PREFERRED

Experience remediating data issues

Basic knowledge of assigned domain products, systems, and workflows

Data classification and privacy experience

Data modeling concepts

Marketing experience, understanding of marketing campaign landscape

M&T Bank is committed to fair, competitive, and market‑informed pay for our employees. The pay range for this position is $85,800.00 - $143,000.00 Annual (USD). The successful candidate’s particular combination of knowledge, skills, and experience will inform their specific compensation.
