The Event Sales Manager drives event revenue across the hotel’s venues, including The Nest rooftop lounge, 2nd Floor function spaces, and larger events within Conversation. This role is ideal for a sales-forward, relationship-driven professional who thrives in a fast-paced environment and understands the full event lifecycle. The Event Sales Manager sells and contracts weddings (welcome parties, receptions, brunches), social celebrations, corporate happy hours, milestone events, and meetings. The primary focus is proactive and reactive selling, with support for planning and detailing based on business levels and seasonality. The position requires strong communication skills, a passion for hospitality, and the ability to collaborate with Sales, Events, Operations, and Culinary teams to ensure every event reflects the Thompson brand.
Responsibilities
Sell event space across The Nest, 2nd Floor function rooms, and Conversation for weddings, social events, corporate gatherings, and meetings.
Conduct site inspections, host planning tours, and represent the Thompson brand with professionalism and creativity.
Respond to incoming leads from email, phone, walk-ins, wedding platforms, and referral partners.
Prepare and present tailored proposals, contracts, and event packages that reflect client needs and hotel standards.
Prospect and cultivate local accounts with potential for repeat business and long-term partnerships.
Maintain accurate records, reports, and client communication within Hyatt systems.
Event Detailing & Planning Support
Support planning and detailing for events of all lead times, including menu planning, timelines, floor plans, rental needs, décor, and AV coordination.
Host tastings, planning meetings, and pre-event walkthroughs as needed.
Ensure timely collection of deposits, final payments, and required documentation.
Provide thorough turnover to the Event Coordinator and Operations teams to ensure flawless execution.
Support onsite needs during peak seasons or high-impact events.
Client & Internal Collaboration
Build and strengthen relationships with new and existing clients to encourage rebookings and referrals.
Serve as a trusted advisor by understanding client goals and recommending the best spaces, services, and enhancements.
Partner closely with Sales, Events, Culinary, Beverage, and Front Office teams to ensure alignment and exceptional service delivery.
Participate in and occasionally lead sales, event, and pre-convention meetings.
Work collaboratively with the Event Coordinator and other support staff.
Qualifications
A genuine desire to satisfy the needs of others in a fast-paced, guest-focused environment.
Refined verbal and written communication skills.
Exceptional attention to detail, organization, and follow-through.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and the ability to quickly learn proprietary systems.
Hotel sales or event planning experience strongly preferred; minimum of 1–2 years in a related role.
Ability to work effectively under pressure, adapt to changing priorities, and manage multiple events simultaneously.
Strong negotiation, presentation, and relationship-building skills.
