UES is seeking a
Director,
Data Centers: Geotechnical
to serve as our national expert in Geotechnical and Materials Testing for data center projects across the US. In this role you will provide the critical subject matter expertise necessary to scale this segment and ensure technical quality assurance at every phase. You will collaborate with clients, national teams and industry partners to solve sophisticated engineering challenges and uphold the highest technical standards in the sector.

Responsibilities
Develop and execute strategic plans to grow the data center business line, including identifying new technical opportunities and project leads.
Provide subject matter expertise on geotechnical and materials testing specifically tailored to the unique requirements of data center infrastructure
Serve as the lead technical resource for data center projects, providing estimates and high-level input on all proposals and bids.
Standardization of proposal templates and estimating tools
Collaborate with business development and national account managers to prepare proposals, presentations, and client outreach strategies.
Establish and maintain relationships with key clients in the data center industry through direct engagement and attendance at industry conferences.
Lead through influence and collaboration across the organization to ensure technical quality and project milestones are achieved.
Track data center industry trends and market developments to inform strategic planning and technical execution.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, or a related engineering field.
Minimum of 10 years of experience in the engineering consulting industry, including at least 5 years in a technical leadership or project management role.
Professional Engineer (PE) license strongly preferred.
Experience working in or with engineering consulting firms, specifically within the data center sector.
Proven experience managing large-scale data center infrastructure projects, including site characterization, materials testing, and construction oversight.
Strong technical knowledge of geotechnical engineering, construction materials testing, or building sciences as applied to data center developments.
Excellent leadership, project management, and communication skills with the ability to influence internal and external stakeholders.
Proficiency in engineering modeling software, estimating tools, and project management platforms.
Ability to lead multidisciplinary teams and manage technical quality assurance for multiple concurrent data center projects.
Travel Requirements This position requires occasional domestic overnight travel, approximately 10% to 20% of the time, to support business objectives and client engagements. Travel may be both scheduled and on short notice, depending on project needs. Destinations typically include job sites, field locations, or regional offices, where work may be conducted in outdoor or operational environments. Adherence to all company safety protocols and use of PPE is required during travel and on-site work.

This position operates in a hybrid work environment, requiring flexibility to work effectively from both a professional office and work site setting.
On-Site Office Requirements:
Work is performed at a desk for extended periods using a computer, phone, and standard office equipment in a climate-controlled office environment.
Regular in-person communication with team members, clients, and stakeholders is required.
Physical demands may include sitting for long durations, occasional standing, walking, bending, and lifting of materials up to 15 pounds
